TRIBUNJOGJA.COM, BANTUL - A successful Youth Mining Camp Competition was held by the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Mining Technique Students Association (HMTA UPN) “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY). The competition took place for five days since April 29 and Saturday (4/5/2019) was the last day of event.
If the participants carried out many outdoor competitions in the previous days, one of them was when they camped in Tinalah Tourism Village, Purwoharjo, Samigaluh, Kulon Progo, then the competition material was mostly conducted in UPNVY campus on Friday (3/5/2019). There were the debate competition and the Micromine Competition.
These two competitions held in different rooms in Arie Frederik Lasut C Building, Mining Engineering Study Program UPNVY. Not inferior to the previous competition material, the participants also seemed enthusiastic in participating in these two competitions.
"Starting from the desire of PT Micromine Indonesia who wants to hold a micromine competition in Indonesia, they collaborated with the Mining Alumni Association (IKATA). Then, there came the idea to put this micromine competition in," said Ramadhana Adi Rusyada, Chairperson of the Youth Mining Camp Competition Committee.
The Micromine competition series began last February by inviting a number of lecturers and students from all universities in Indonesia who already have the micromine licenses including UPN, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), University of Indonesia (UI), Padjadjaran University (Unpad) and University of Syiah Kuala Aceh.
After the competition was agreed upon, each university then registered their respective teams. One team consisted of two people with the free composition of the batch and major in accordance with the mining and geology fields. After the registration process and obtaining question material, it obtained six of the best teams.
These six best teams from six universities then underwent the final phase in the Youth Mining Camp Competition on Friday.
The competition this time tested the quality, accuracy and suitability of mine and geological design as a solution of the existing material and problems through the micromine application.
"So the team must be able to provide the right design as a solution to the existing problems. For example, they must make a processing design to the price for the appearance of the mine area. The judges are directly from micromine. The winner will get a prize for visiting Russia, the Micromine headquarters”, said Rama.
Through this Micromine competition, according to Rama, it was expected that the ability of the participants in making mine designs through the micromine application could be honed.
It was because the mine processing efforts have used modern technologies nowadays, such as micromine, not manually.
From the information compiled by Teribunjogja.com, in addition to Micromine, there was a number of competitions which was all related to mining held at the Youth Mining Camp Competition.
There were totally 11 Mining Competitions, including Written Test, DCP, Rock ID, Bench Blast, Tie In, Crushing and Grinding, Mine Surveying, Software, Planning, Hand Mucking, and Joint Measuring.
In addition, there were a Student Paper Competition, Debate Competition and Mining Expo held in UPNVY Campus and the National Seminar held in Merapi Merbabu Hotel. (*)
