SLEMAN - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) graduated 628 graduates of academic year 2017/2018 for undergraduate and master degree students on 14 October 2017, at Auditorium WR Supratman, UPN Condongcatur Campus.

There were 9 people of the Master program and 619 people of  Bachelor programs.

The undergraduate students with the highest GPA of three point eight five was Cheka Putri Maharani from Industrial Technique Program, Laura Victoria from Science of Business Administration Program, and Kristi Dwi Utami from Science of Communication Program.

There was one Masters Graduate who graduated with the highest GPA of four point zero namely Monika Elvira Wijaya from Master of Management Program.

Rector UPNVY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti K, M.Sc., in her speech congratulated the graduates who successfully completed the master, bachelor and diploma education. She hoped that the graduates could utilize the knowledge that had been obtained in college as a provision to build the beloved nation and state of Indonesia by the soul of discipline, stance, and creativity.

UPNVY as a State Defense Campus will continue to improve its role in various efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.

On the occasion, the Rector also conveyed the role of UPNVY as a higher education institution acting as a Candradimuka Crater for intellectual candidates, qualified successors and leaders of the nation who can be the antidote to all forms of threat.

Along with the development, technological advances and the rapid flow of globalization have implications for the development of modern warfare in the form of Asymetric Warfare and Proxy War as well as other non-military threats such as corruption, drugs, radicalism and terrorism. All forms of these threats need to be faced by all components of the nation, such as the role of Universities in the form of smartpower.

The importance of increasing the  understanding of homeland love, defense and escort to NKRI and National Development by educated society, makes the State Defence be a value ??that needs to be implanted and developed in every Indonesian university.

In her speech, the Rector invited all universities in Indonesia to commit in implementing the values ??of state defense in the Synergy Program of State Defenders Campus of Indonesia (SKBNI) 2017. This program is one of the benchmarks of the implementation of defending the state in the academic environment. (wwj / humas)
