The Mother's 89th Anniversary Ceremony in 2017 had the theme of "Women Empowerment, Indonesia Jaya".
In the ceremony this time, the officers were dominated by women. The ceremonial commander who lead all the troops was also female Officers who read the 1945 Constitution and prayer readers were female lecturers. In the row of ceremonies, female officers are in the front row.
Acting as the leader of ceremony that was Rector of UPNVY, Prof. Sari Bahagiarti. The Rector read the history of Mother's Day and read the welcome speech from the Minister of Women Empowerment. In the speech, it affirmed the equality of rights between women and men in Indonesia.
The commemoration of Mother's Day also showed that the struggle of Indonesian women had undergone a very long process in realizing the equality of roles and position with men, since both are human resources and have contributions to the success of development.
"The Momentum of Mother's Day also serves as a reflection for all of us, about the various efforts that have been made in order to advance the movement of women in all areas of development," said Rector.
The 89-year long journey has brought success to both women and men in facing the global and multidimensional challenges, especially the struggle for gender equality in Indonesia.
