SLEMAN - In the modern era and freedom of information, competition between media becomes increasingly tight. Information becomes very diverse and the numbers are many. In this condition the role of public relations in conducting effective communication is not easy. In response to this condition, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) opened the Public Relation Study Program in the Academic Year of 2018/2019.
The opening of this new study program is based on Letter of Decision of Minister of Research and Technology No. 387 / KPT / I / 2017 concerning the Permission for the Opening of Public Relations Program Undergraduate Program at Veteran Yogyakarta National Development University Yogyakarta.
Lecturer of Communication Science, FISIP UPNVY, Siti Fathonah said facing the digital era, PR Program is trying to follow the development of the user demand. This can be seen from the courses on the KKNI-based curriculum supported by various laboratories. Those are the Lab. Strategic Public Relations, Multimedia Labs, Press Labs, Photography Labs, Radio Labs, Audiovisual Labs that are very modern and productive.
Fathonah said UPNVY has prepared human resources to support the new study program. There are currently 24 permanent lecturers, and practitioner lecturers from the company.
"Specifically, in accordance with the UPN development plan to become an energy university, the graduates of Public Relations program are also directed to become public relations practitioners of oil and mining companies," said Fathonah met at UPNVY Condong Catur Campus on Friday (13/1/2017 ).
A graduate of Public Relations Program is targeted to have professional technical and managerial expertise in public relations that can meet the institutional demand for communication needs with the public. Conceptually, the concentration of this program is directed to the development trend of public relations in Indonesia and the world.
"We are confident with the large number of alumni from the concentration of public relations that has been absorbed in various agencies and both government and state-owned companies and private companies which will give a different color for UPN alumni Prodi," he said. (wwj / humas)
