Starting from a hobby that is transmitted by his family, Tonny Oscar climbed his career in photography to the professional level. All the unique moments captured through the eyes of the lens have been able to be some money for the figure of this 26 year boy. "My family is very fond of photography even though it is not professional. Just to capture the existing moment, "he said.

The grandfather who transmitted the vskill to Tonny. Although at that time, around the 1980s, using his grandfather film cameras, he captured many important moments of the family. "There are photos of my father when he was a child until he finally got. When his grandfather died, the camera was inherited to the children and grandchildren. Anyone who wants to use it can immediately take in the cupboard, "continued this eye-glassed young man.

In the early of 2005, Tonny family began to glance at the more sophisticated digital cameras. Using a pocket camera, Tonny funneled his hobby. Tonny began seriously in the world of photography four years later when he was in high school.

The Alumnus of Mining Department of Universitas Pembangunan Veteran Nasional (UPN) Jogjakarta loves to take pictures of unique things that are documentary. There is always an object that is capturedt as a document every time he goes to the various regions.

"For me, each area has its own pulse," said Tonny who is also interested in documenting the culture of the society in every region he visited.

Tonny had never attended any special training or courses to hone his photographic skills. He studied himself through books, browsing the internet, and discussing with his friends in the photography community. There are Kurniadi Widodo and Muhammad Fadli. These two photographers are the role models for Tonny in the work.

Despite increasingly sophisticated technology, Tonny still likes analog cameras. Using  the camera, he can explore many things and interact with many unique people.

He ever did a kind of a personal project about anxiety  some times ago by having a little research and information about anxiety through books. He had discussions with psychologists before executing. " I did it totally," he said. By having research, Tonny is also able to use the metaphor to represent the psychic illness without having to show the sufferer. "Documentary photos are not only about a person but can be about the space surrounding it," he explained.

In 2017 Tonny collaborated with French cinematographer Mehdi Haddou  producing a short film that was later included in a French film festival, that is Mokhtar Film Festival. Tonny had a role of a director of photography (DOP).

The last project that has recently been worked on is the documentation of Muslims in the Maldives.

Yes, thanks to  photography, Tonny can roam the countries of Southeast Asia.

Like many successors in other fields, he experienced many obstacles when he began to establish himself as a photographer. It was a difficult situation when he had to convince his parents about his passion. Moreover, the program that he wrestled during this time was mining. "It took a long time to convince my parents," he said. Tonny was aware of the problem. It is because his parents felt that they had spent big fees for the mining class. However, Tonny chose another path as a mooring of his life today and later in the future. (Yog / mg1)
