SLEMAN - UPN Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) students succeeded in winning the 2018 Oil and Gas Intellectual Competition (OGIP) competition held on 24 - 26 January 2017. At this time, OGIP UPNVY representative team participated and competed in all categories of Smart Competition, Plan of Development Design, Paper Competition, and Oil Rig Design Competition.

Sembada team won  the 1st  place in Plan of Development Design category, Mahesvara Team won the 1st  Plan of Development Design Runner Up, Neo Atlantis Team became the 1st  Runner Up of Oil Rig Design Competition category, 1st Winner of Smart Competition category and Muhammad Dzulfikar Faruqi and Alvian Gilang Gumelar won the second Runner Up of the Paper Competition category.

The OGIP Competition with the theme of Bridging World Energy Leaders "is the largest annual event held by the UPNVY Petroleum Engineering Department. Several series of events are held on this title: CEO and Entrepreneur Talk, Intellectual Competition (which consists of Plan of Development Competition, Paper Competition, Smart Competition and Oil Rig Design Competition), Ethnic Dinner, Go Green and Social Activity and Awarding Night and CEO and Entrepreneur Talk.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mohammad Fidi Abganis Hermawan, Petroleum Engineering Student of UPNVY in 2014 mentioned there were 13 universities in Indonesia and two universities from Malaysia participated in this competition.

"Participants are from ITB, STT Migas, STEM Akamigas, UGM, UI, ITS, Trisakti, University of Pertamina and from outside there are University of Technology Malaysia and University College Sedaya International," he explained.

Alfian Gilang Gumelar, Student Geological Technology UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) 2016 who won the 2nd  Runner Up of International Paper Competition told OGIP there was intense competition among the participants.

"The other data are detailed and complete, in terms of presentation they are good, especially those from Malaysia may be accustomed to English," he said on Tuesday (06/02/2018).

For Alvian, his victory this time added the row of achievements he had achieved. Recorded, the man born in Bantul, March 18, 1998 has been the first winner of Paper Competition at the Hardrock Festival UNPAD, 3rd  Place of National Poster Competition Minespace UNHAS 2017, and Champion of Best Poster College Category Petroleum Olympiad Speefest SPE UPN SC 2017.
