SLEMAN - Until the last day of registration of National Selection of State University (SNMPTN) 2018, 13,957 applicants or prospective students set their choice in UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY).

"Registration of SNMPTN has been started since February 21, 2018 and ended on March 6, 2018 at 00:00, there were as many as 13,957 prospective students" said Vice Rector of Academic UPNVY, M. Irhas Efendi, Wednesday (7/3/2018).

From that number, said Irhas, as many as 8,099 registrants placed UPNVY as the first choice (PTN 1) and 5,858 applicants placed UPNVY as the second choice (PTN 2). Of these applicants, 1,991 are applicants of the bidikmisi program.

Irhas compared it to 2017, this year enrollment of UPNVY through the SNMPTN increased by 1,223 applicants. The 2017 applicants are 12,734 prospective students.

In the process of New Student Admission (PMB) of the academic year 2018/2019, UPNVY provided 30 percent through the SNMPTN from the total capacity of 3,115 students.

"SBMPTN had 1,214, and  Independent Selection had 991 apllicants. This number increased from the initial capacity that we ever releases," said Irhas.

Irhas explained that the end of the registration, the committee began the formulation process of finalization of the students’ final scores. This process analyzed the grades of semester I to semester V, took into account the track record, school performance, applied the national selection criteria, and the criteria set by each PTN. The main principles of SNMPTN were fair, accountable, and transparent.

"The selection process begins with the selection of applicants for the first choice of PTN based on the order of chosen major. The applicants who choose the major at two PTNs do not pass at the first-run PTN, they will be selected for the second-choice of PTN based on the major order and the availability of capacity, "he explained.

Irhas said there was no additional registration time of SNMPTN and will soon be announced on April 17, 2018. (wwj / humas)
