UPNVY cooperating with Singapore Polytechnic Holds Learning Express (LeX) :: dipost pada 02 April 2018

SLEMAN - Learning Express (LeX) as the cooperation between UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) and Singapore Polytechnic officially opened on Saturday (31/03/2018) at UPNVY FTM Seminar Room. The event was attended by 27 UPN participants and 31 Singapore Polytechnic participants, along with facilitators and coordinators.

Rector of UPNVY, Prof. Sari Bahagiarti K, MSc when opening the event said it held Learning Express together with Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta and starting this year UPNVY organizes Express Learning with Singapore Polytechnic independently.

"Our university also has a similar program to Learning Express. This is a Student Community Service or KKN (Real Working Lecture), where students live in villages and help villagers develop and run programs that can improve their livelihood and economy. " she said in front of the participants.

Professor of the Faculty of Mineral Technology said if her side has joined the program of Learning Express in Yogyakarta for five years. This program is conducted twice a year, every March and September. First time was on March 9-21, 2013, and this time  took place from 30 March to 10 April 2018.

"In the past, we also participated for Learning Express program in Singapore, called TF-SCALE / Temasek Community Action Program and Leadership Exchange – Partners, Students who join TF-SCALE also participate in the Learning Express program in Yogyakarta, "said Sari.

Meanwhile Soh Chee Meng as the facilitator from Singapore Polytechnic said the program has students from various ASEAN majors together to work with the community and create a product that will be useful for the development of the community. Using the Thinking Design method, LeX participants get a container to find out how Design Thinking methods can help think differently and make life better

 Later the participants stayed for 2 weeks in Desa Pakembinangun, Pakem, Sleman to live with local people and observe daily activities. (Wwj-humas)
