YOGYA, KRJOGJA.com - Learning Express (LeX) cooperation of UPN and Singapore Polytechnic officially opened on Saturday (31/03/2018) at Seminar Room Seminar Room of FTM UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. Opened directly by the Rector Prof. Sari Bahagiarti, the event was attended by 27 UPN participants and 31 Singapore Polytechnic participants, along with facilitators and coordinators. LeX is an annual event aimed as the youth cooperation from various ASEAN countries, the creation of real change in developing countries, and the learning innovative ways of thinking. "This program brings students together from various ASEAN majors to work with communities and to create a product that will be useful for the development of the community. Using the Design Thinking method, LeX participants will get a container to find out how the Design Thinking method can help to think differently and make life better, "said Soh Chee Meng, a facilitator from Singapore Polytechnic to KRJOGJA.com. The participants stay for 2 weeks in Desa Pakembinangun, Pakem, Sleman to have the life with local people and observe daily activities. "We will help the community through Design Thinking methods to know their needs. The method requires the emergence of empathy and sensibiltas to know their needs, which is done through observation and interview. After that, it will form the persona and initial idea, which will help to make the protoype as the final product, "said Preeti Sharma the representative of Singapore Polytechnic. In addition to UPN, LeX is also held in various places such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, and others, along with university partners. Indonesia itself is represented by UPN, UMY, and UMM. (MG 19)
