SLEMAN- To promote UPNVY, 12 Foreign students from 12 countries study at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. BSBI is the flagship program of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Indonesia to the international community. For 3 months, the youth and young women aged 21-27 years live in various cities in Indonesia (Padang, Yogyakarta, Banyuwangi, Denpasar, Makassar, and Kutai Kartanegara).
It was conveyed by UPNVY Rector, Prof Sari Bahagiari K, when opening the event, Monday (2/03/2018) at Campus UPN Babarsari.
In front of the students, Sari said the appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially the Directorate of Public Diplomacy who has given trust to UPN in organizing BSBI program, and the department of International Relations who have a good relationship with the Directorate, so that it was able to carry out the task of contributing to the State.
"Hopefully BSBI participants can have valuable experience while studying at the UPN" Veteran "Yogyakarta campus," she said.
Until 2018, BSBI has been held for 15 years and has 776 alumni spread in 69 countries. With the theme of the Color of Beautiful Indonesia, BSBI 2018 participants learn about the cultural diversity in this country. The most important thing is the opportunity of the BSBI recipient to experience their own the diversity directly with the people of Indonesia, including living in Yogyakarta.
For the sixth time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate of Public Diplomacy gave a trust to UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, especially the Department of International Relations, to provide knowledge and skills to 12 foreign of 12 countries for 3 months in BSBI program. Until 2017, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta has already had 54 alumni from more than 20 countries. The existence of BSBI participants for 3 months on campus is of course also a very important contribution to the diversity in this campus.
During the stay and study at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta campus, BSBI participants can interact directly with students and society. Be local or learn to live and learn to be like Indonesian in this city of Yogyakarta. Through lectures (on economics, politics, multiculturalism in Indonesia, media and Islam), discussions, site visits (NGOs, MSMEs, government offices, and residence in tourist villages), vocational activities (batik cloth and wooden mask, and T-shirts), Indonesian language, dance lessons, and gamelan play, BSBI participants are expected to know more about Indonesia.
