UPN “VETERAN” YOGYAKARTA RECEIVES GUESTS FROM QUALITY UNIVERSITY (UNIVERSITAS QUALITY) :: dipost pada 15 Maret 2017

On April 14th, 2017, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta received guests from Universitas Quality Medan, who were greeted by UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta’s Rector, Deputy Rector Commissioning Students’ Affairs and Cooperation, the Deans or their Assignees.

The Rector of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta explained the establishment UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, from its early days, when the university was first established by the veterans and heroes under the Ministry of Veterans and Demobilization until its present status, in which UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta becomes one of the state universities in Yogyakarta. And followed by her description of the programs studies conducted in UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and the new study programs: metallurgy, geology and the S2 Communication study program, which will be proposed to become the study program of Public Relations.

“Universitas Quality is a private university in North Sumatra with campuses located in two different locations, in Karo and Medan, and it has 5 Faculties,“ its Rector, Prof. Dr. Ema Frida M.Si, explained.

The purpose the visit to UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta is to maintain the close relationship and conduct surveys for possible cooperation. UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta was chosen because UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta is characterized by its state-defense vision. In UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, state Defense is taught in the integrated curriculum and we teach state defense to our students through Pancasila, Kewarganegaraan (Nationalism), Religion,  Sports and  wdy mat Yasa (dedicating science to the nation)  subjects.

In the visit, the Deans or their assignees explained how state defense is implemented in their respective study programs.

UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta also conducts workshops, training of trainers on how to implement the state defend in their respective study programs.

In connection with points described above, Universitas Quality intends to conduct a comparative study, to follow and implement the state defense program as carried out by UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta to be implemented in Universitas Quality.  It was added that every new student in Universitas Quality is obliged to participate in the Basic Military education.

We represented UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta at the Meeting of Coordination of the National Information Transparency/ Openness Day (HKIN) held on March 16th , taking place in the Meeting Room of Diskominfo Office of Yogyakarta.

The results of the Meeting:

  1. The Meeting was opened by the Head of KIP DIY, in the framework to coordinate/commemorate the National Information Transparency/Openness Day (HKIN) 2017, which was also attended by the representatives of Disputes, advocating, socialization and education. It was explained that information openness is the gate to the prevention of corruption, collusion and nepotism and to the creation of a clean government.
  2. The HKIN commemoration, which was formally held on April 30th, 2017 but was held on May 7th, 2017 in Yogyakarta, as on April 30th, 2017, there would the national commemoration ceremony in the Jakarta (the Center) so the peak of HKIN commemoration day in Yogyakarta would be held on May 7th, 2017, coinciding a car-free day, held and promoted by Kedaulatan Rakyat daily newspaper, and so the HKIN day will only “take a free ride” on the car-free day. KIP Yogyakarta is planning to send 200 people to participate in the mass dance to be held in the ceremony.
  3. A T-shirt and snack will be given to the participants, as a result of the cooperation with Lion Dance, who has frequently participated in car-free days.
  4. Information Openness Consultation stands will be provided. Thereby, we do not only socialize openness but also encourage people to be aware of Information Openness.
  5. Orations on Socialization of Information Openness to be performed by three elements: Legislative; Executive; and NGOs
  6. Each institution participating in the Meeting, including UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta  is expected to contribute, which may be given in the form of backdrops, banners, videos or anything able to support the program, or send personnel to participate in the mass dance.
  7. In the Meeting we will also declare that UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta will support the HKIN by notifying the occasion to the media on the web of  UPN “Veteran” so that the information will b known by the public.
  8. Formal letters will be made and sent to the participating institutions requesting them to send personnel (employees/students) to participate in the mass dance.
