Every 17th, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta always holds a flag-raising ceremony. This time, the ceremony was presided by Dr. Dra. Machya Astuti Dewi, M.Si, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Studies (FISIP).
The ceremony, which was held on the Rector’s Building yard, was attended by the lecturers, non-lecturer Educational and Institutional personnel and the ceremony proceeded solemnly and smoothly. As the commandant of the ceremony, Dr. Dra.Machya Astuti Dewi, M.Si, read the message from the Rector on the flag-raising ceremony held on March 17th, 2017.
It was notified that on March 3rd, 2017, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta held a Press Meeting and invited all journalists from the media in Yogyakarta, both printed and electronic media, in relation to the opening of 3 (three) new study programs for the first time in 2017/2018 academic year. The new study programs are Metallurgy Engineering from the Faculty of Mineral Technology, Information System from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Geological Sciences (Geology) from the Faculty of Agriculture. The press Meeting held in the Transit Room on the Ground Floor of the Rector’s Building, was attended by Deputy Rector Commissioning Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohamad Irhas Effendi, M.S., Coordinator of Metallurgy Engineering Study Program, Ir.Anton Sudiyanto, M.T., Coordinator of Information System Study Program, Hery Sofyan, S.T., MKom, and the Coordinator of Geological Sciences, Dr. Ir. Susilo Herlambang, M.Si.
In that press meeting, it was notified to the journalists that:
Indonesia is a country rich in mineral and mining materials, with the dispersion covering almost all of the country’s territory. However, these mining materials owned by Indonesia cannot directly be enjoyed by the public because they must first be mined and processed to obtain the pure metal.
On the other hand, with the opening of the S1 Information System Study Program, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta has become the only state university in Yogyakarta to have Information System Study Program. The Geological Science Study Program was previously conducted by UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, stooped but is now reactivated. Geological Science Study Program of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta has a competitive superiority as the supporting agent in solving geological problems (treatment of former mining sites, geological issues, water pollution and oil for agriculture). These competitive elements differentiate our geological science study program from the same study program offered by any other campus/university in Indonesia.
Second, a Memorandum of Understanding on the Draft of Cooperation of The Archipelago (Nusantara) Higher Education Development and the Focus Group Discussion on the Improvement of Universities in Remote Regions was signed on March 4th, 2017 by UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and Musamus University (Universitas Musamus), taking place on the UNMUS campus in Merauke. UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta also signs other Memorandum of Understandings of Archipelago (Nusantara) Higher Education Development with different universities, including Universitas Bangka Belitung, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji, Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang, Universitas Sembilan Belas November Kolaka, Universitas Teuku Umar, Institut Seni Budaya Aceh, Institut Seni Budaya Papua, Politeknik Negeri Batam, Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung, Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis, Politeknik Maritim Negeri Indonesia, and Politeknik Negeri Cilacap. In implementing FGD, the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta emphasized the importance of geological sciences the 3T (the most distant, remote, and least developed (Indonesian: terdepan, terpencil, and tertinggal) regions. These relationships among universities in the Indonesian Archipelago (Nusantara) will be followed up with collective researches and collective publications and collective supports in developing scientific journals.
Third,on March 9th, 2017, taking place in the Seminar Room of Babarsari campus, the socialization and circulation of the results of the study called “the Application of Dimethyl ETER (DME) Utilization as Fuel for Small Industries” was presented to both the lectures and students. This activity was the result of the cooperation between Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran”Yogyakarta and Research and Development Center of Oil and Natural Gas Technology (Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan Teknologi Minyak dan Gas Bumi) (PPPTMGM) of LEMIGAS (Oil and Gas Institution) and was supported by the Directorate of Research and Public Contribution Institutions, the Directorate General of Institutions, of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Keristekdikti)
Fourth, on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017, the first release of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta’s 62nd Generation of Actually Working Lecture (KKN) (Practising) Students was conducted, followed by 231 students, bearing Thematic and Regular KKN patterns.
Fifth, in order to improve the Institutional Quality of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta, an In House Training on ISO 9001: 2015 was conducted in the Meeting Room of the Rector’s Building, on Floor 5 on March 16th – 17th, 2017, presented by the key speaker from Standard Australia International (SAI) GLOBAL, Jakarta. This seminar was attended by 48 persons, composed of the representatives of the study programs (prodi), Faculties and Units existing in Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran” Yogyakarta.
Sixth, in accordance with Academic Calendar, from March 27th to April 7th , the mid-semester examination for the even semester of 2016/2017 Academic Calendar. As the director, we request that all parties work hard so that the examination may go well and smoothly.
