SLEMAN – In order to give research experience to students, Student Executive Body (BEM) the Faculty of Engineering Industry (FTI) was organizing a seminar on Student Creativity Program (PKM), on Saturday (6/10/2018). The seminar was conducted in Laboratory Room of International Organization, Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Science, UPN ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta.The seminar resource person wasDr. BambangSulistyo, S.Pd.,M.Eng, from UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta.
“The advantages of Student Creativity Program are to give research experience to students, to improve the quality of scientific research in Indonesia, and to upgrade the quality of Indonesian human resources”, explained Bambang.
The lecturer of UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta said further that the objectives of the program are to enlighten the creativity and innovation based on the mastery in science and technology. Moreover it is also to prepare the students to become the leaders, which is also scientists, entrepreneurs, independent, and wise.
PKM could provide opportunity for students to implement his or her ability, expertise, attitude, and responsibility, build teamwork, and also to develop the independency through creative activities in science.
PKM also gives the opportunity for student to get research based funding.
‘Things to do immediately by students are reading the PKM guidance book, picking up PKM scheme, finding idea, choosing academic supervisor, selecting members of PKM, searching references, and writing the proposal as son as possible’, suggested Bambang.
Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Planning, and Cooperation Faculty of Industrial Engineering, UPNVY, Ir. Mahreni, M.T., Ph.D, said the objectives of this PKM seminar that held by BEM Faculty of Industrial Engineering are to provide research experience to students, to improve scientific research in Indonesia, and to increase the numbers of students that have interest to join PKM (BMW-fti).
