Harianjogja.com, SLEMAN - Chancellor of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) Muhammad Irhas Effendi said that currently every college must have a differentiation in order to compete. UPNVY intends to be an energy university in Indonesia.
"UPNV will focus on energy education. We are in the process of becoming Energy University. If we notice that there are not many universities in Indonesia that focus on energy, "Irhas said while receiving a Harian Jogja visit in his office on Thursday (01/31/2019).
Irhas said that UPNVY has innovations that other universities do not have, such as the management of old oil wells. Today, the community still mines in the traditional way with no large productivity. "We have to make a breakthrough with technology that is environmentally friendly, but affordable and able to increase productivity," he said.
Irhas revealed that currently UPNVY is running several programs to improve its quality in the transition from private universities to the country. There are at least four stages that must be completed starting from transformation, transition, strengthening management and superior performance. "We will finish earlier this year, hopefully it works. It has completed 80 percent now, there are only 20 percent more and that is the hard on, namely the transition of human resources and assets, "explained Irhas.
Even though it is still a transition period, the high school graduates' interest in enrolling in UPNVY has increased from time to time. The initial interest of registrants was in the range of 11,000-13,000 registrants, then increasingly moving in the range of 34,000-45,000 and currently estimated at 59,000. Not long ago, the UPN also received the 2018 State Defense Award from the Ministry of Defense.
The Chancellor said, UPNVY continued to work to improve the accreditation, especially for a number of new study programs. There are at least nine new study programs that will be sought to get a reaccreditation to B. UPNVY agrees to work togetherwith Jogja Daily to build a good branding.
