SLEMAN - Floods and landslides hit almost all regions in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) on Sunday (3/17/2019). According to the DIY Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the floods and landslides occured as a result of the mild rainfall that has hit DIY from morning to evening.
The UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta Student Nature Lovers (MAPALA) team member, Zaeni Mansyur said based on team reports in the field, the most severe floods was in the East Imogiri region with water levels reaching 1.5 meters whereas the water level reached 30 cm - 50 cm in other regions.
"We arrived at Broncok Village, Bantul on Sunday night at 10:00 p.m. WIB to join the other teams to evacuate the residents," Zaeni said through a short message application on Monday (3/18).
Until now, 7 members of Mapala UPNVY and other volunteers from various groups have evacuated the residents in rubber boats to the refugee camps.
"Earlier Monday we started heading to the second flood location in the old Imogiri Market area while we focused on evacuation activities for residents. "Zaini said.
At this location, said Zaeni, there were several houses that collapsed, both walls and fences. There were also houses of worship that have collapsed affected by the floods.
BPPD DIY data has mappedthe landslide disaster for Gunungkidul Regency, inundated areas in 6 sub-districts, namely Purwosari, Semanu, Panggang, Tepus, Playen, Tanjungsari. The landslideswere in Patuk sub-district and affected by strong winds were triggered which caused trees feltdown. In Kulon Progo, seven points are mapped, which were spread in the Kokap area, Samigaluh, and Girimulyo. From Sleman, it was reported that there were fallen trees in Sayegan Subdistrict and Minggir. In the city of Yogyakarta, there was a fallen tree in the Kotagede sub-district and there was a pool in Umbulharjo Sub-district. The most affected areas were in Bantul Regency covering 9 sub-districts (Imogiri, Piyungan, Pleret, Pundong, Kretek, Jetis, Bantul, Kasihan and Pandak). The flood concentration was in the Celeng Watershed. The landslides affected 2 sub-districts namely Pleret and Pundong. (wwj / humas)
