SLEMAN - Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran” Yogyakarta was the most demanded in the Joint Selection of State Higher Education (SBMPTN) in 2018, it is predicted that this department will still be the most demanded department this year.

"The department which had lots of applicants [at SBMPTN 2018] was Management. The predictions [on SBMPTN 2019] are still the same," said Head of Cooperation and Public Relations, UPNVY, Marcus Kusnardijanto, to Tirto as the reporter on Wednesday (06/12/2019). Marcus said that there were 29,475 registrants in SBMPTN 2018.

The Management Department is the most in demand with a total number of 3,282 registrants. The next demanded departments are 2,794 applicants for Communication Studies, 2,401 for Mining Techniques and 2,154 applicants for Informatics Technique.

Of the three majors that had the most registrants, said Marcus, the Department of Mining Engineering was the most stringent. It was because the difference between the number of applicants and the capacity of the comparison was very significant. The quota for Mining Engineering provided at this SBMPTN 2019 is 90 seats. Meanwhile, the most demanded department, Management, provides 160 seats for SBMPTN 2019 track. Based on 2018 SBMPTN data, there are 20 majors or study programs in science and social humanities at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.
