On April 7th, 2017, taking place in the convention on 1st floor, attended by the Rector, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Head of the Lapsa and Foreign Cooperation, Hari Kusuma N., SE, Ak., M. Acc from the Faculty of Economy, DR. Mareni from FTI, Dr. Dian Indri Purnamasari, M.Si., Ak., CA, DR. Herlina Jayadianti ST., ST, and DR. Awang Hendrianto from the Faculty of Industrial Technology. In her speech for the farewell party for Prof. Volker Raddatz, a senior member of the “Senior Experten Services” who visited UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta from March 19th to April 7th, 2017, from Germany, the Rector expressed her gratitude for Professor Volker Raddatz had shared his knowledge with UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta on how to write good academic articles to be published internationally. On the occasion, the Rector also requested the Professor’s apologies for the unsatisfactory services during his stay and asked him not to be chastened and to come back again to Indonesia, inparticular to UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and share knowledge to write scientific articles for scientific publication. In her “joke’ the Rector also said that we may be invited to come to Germany any time in the future. At the closing of the meeting, the Rector said goodbye and hoped that we would meet again either in Indonesia or in Germany.

Prof. Volker Raddatz expressed his joy to be part of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, he said “Everything is great and nothing to be apologized for, no inconvenience at all during my stay here at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta”.  During his cordial visit, he was accompanied by DR. Awang Henrianto, DR. Hari Kusuma, N., SE.,Ak, M. Acc, Dr. Herlina Jayadianti ST, MT, and other prominent personage. He and his wife enjoyed every minute of their stay in Yogyakarta; they enjoyed the rain, the food, hotel and service of the driver who always drives carefully, etc.

They also enjoyed a shadow puppet performance.

Prof. Volker Raddatz presence in Yogyakarta did not only provide his knowledge in academic writing but also improved our English competence.

During his stay, Prof. Volker Raddatz also paid various visits to observe the agriculture, political sciences and the new Indonesian Government’s policies. The Rector of UPN who is a graduate from Geological Engineering asked the Professor if he also observed any geological sites. In response to her question, Prof. Volker Raddatz answered that he had seen the fossils of a tiger and went up to Mount Merapi. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Volker Raddatz gave two classical music CDs of Sebastian Bach, one for the university and the other for the Rector herself.  The Rector gave one book on Mt. Merapi.

Prof. Raddatz said that he received so many gifts, from the Rector, from Herlina and from others, “Thank you very much”, he said

The meeting was closed with giving souvenirs from UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and from the office of UPN “veteran” Yogyakarta, in this case the Lapsa and Foreign (International) Affairs.

UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sari Bahagiarti K, MSc, greatly hopes to increase the number of the university’s senior lecturers or professors at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. One of the efforts in so far conducted, in addition to the seminars on scientific writing having been held, has been made by inviting an expert in scientific writing to the beloved campus, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.

Dr. Ir. Rr. Rukmowati Brotojoyo from KUI of UPN“Veteran” Yogyakarta together with the Professorship Acceleration Team inside UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, comprised of DR.Singgih Saptono MT,Dr. Dian Indri Purnamasari, Dr. Herlina Jayadianti, Dr. Partoyo,Dr. Awang Hendrianto, Oliver Simanjutak, MSc. Hari Kusuma N., SE, Ak. M. Acc., and Umiyatun Choiriah, MT., tried to realize that intention and hope. Via the offer from the Senior Experten Service (SES), in cooperation with UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, on March 20th, 2017, the hope of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta could be materialized. SES is non-profit organization in Germany which accommodates the intentions of retired German experts to share their knowledge worldwide. Fortunately, UPN Veteran Yogyakarta for the first time received the privilege to receive the visit of Professor from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities II, Department of English and American Studies Institut für Linguistik und Amerikanistik.

The arrival of Prof. Volker Raddatz on Monday, March 20th, 2017 was welcome by the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Sari Bahagiarti K, Dr.Drs Susanta, M.Si, Deputy Rector commissioning General Affairs and Finance and Dr. Ir.Singgih Spatono, MT, the Deputy Rector commissioningStudents’ Affairsand cooperation. It was planned that Prof. Volker Raddatz would be at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta to teach scientific writing from March 20th to April 6th, 2017, meaning that he would be on the campus (UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta) for 3 weeks to provide a general lecture in scientific writing to the lecturers of five faculties:the Faculty of Mineral Engineering, Faculty of Economy and Business, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Social Sciences and Politics and the Faculty of Industrial Engineering.Each faculty would receive three face-to-face workshop sessions. Prof. Volker Raddatz has great passion and substantial amount of experience in authorship, which is expected to provide positive influences and motivation aimed at increasing the quantity of publication at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.
