SLEMAN - Deciding to get married in a young age while still in college is not an easy decision, but it does not mean that it is impossibile. This young marriage decision was carried out by Hani Husamuddin (23) and Safna Aulia (20). Both got married when they were still students.
Hani said, the courageous decision was taken when he took his seventh semester lecture of Informatics Engineering Department, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY).
"My wife and I met on the campus since we were in one department and one organization. We decided to get married in September 2018 when I took semester VII and my wife was still in semester V", said Hani.
Hani admitted that his desire to get marriage in a young age was his dream from the beginning. He wanted a family to accompany him when he was officially graduated.
"Both of my parents have died. My two brothers are far away. If I get married, there is a wife who will accompany me", he said with a smile.
Hani said that he considered his desire to get marriage in a young age carefullr. Even though he is still a student, he already has had an income.
"I have a business of buying and selling gadgets and laptops. Having this business earning, I am confident that I can support my wife. "
Although his desire to get married is not prohibited, his wife’s parents were worried. They were worried if the decision would disrupt the lecture and suggested them to delay it until the college graduation.
"I give the understanding to my family-in-law about my marriage seriousness. Thank God, they finally permitted it”, he said confidently.
His decision, said Hani, got responses from his friends. Especially, he was undergoing a busy life as an Assistant Lecturer and organizational activist at that time.
"My friends are worried if I cannot manage my time, because my activities and college assignments are quite solid", he said.
Hani's seriousness in building a household ark at a young age is also proven by his achievements in college. He became one of the winners of the Scholarly Works award on the graduation on Saturday (13/7). The awards were given to outstanding UPNVY students and active organizations.
On this graduation, he graduated cum laude with a GPA of 3.63 and a length of study period of 3 years 9 months.
"Alhamdulillah, I can get both marriage andcollege achievement. The important thing is managing time. Getting married made me be more enthusiastic the enthusiasm for graduating from college", said Hani, who is waiting for a new family member now because his wife is six months pregnant.
