SLEMAN - The Independent Selection of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta for the Bachelor degree is held again today, Sunday (21/7). There are 9,747 participants attend the exam which takes place at 07.30 and ended at 12.00 WIB. They compete for 953 capacities of 21 study programs. Of these, 1,587 are the participants of  Bidikmisi program.

The Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs UPNVY, Dr. Suharsono, said that Mining Engineering was the applicants’ most favorite science study program, namely for 1,097 applicants. The study program provided 54 capacities for this year's independent selection.

"The next favorite for choices 1 and 2 is Informatics Engineering then Agrotechnology and Geological Engineering", he said after mandating the Chancellor reviewed the examination.

Whereas, the most favorite social humanities (Social Humaniora) study program with 1744 applicants of 96 students’capacityis Communication and Accounting.

Suharsono explained that Mining Engineering and Management has always been a favorite in almost all selection pathways, both SNMPTN, SBMPTN and Independent Selection. This is because the accreditation in both study programs is A.

"In addition to other considerations, there may also be a large number of employment opportunities by studying those programs", he said.

In an effort to equalize learning opportunities at UPNVY, the independent selection examinations are carried out simultaneously in several cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Bontang and Pekanbaru.
