UPNVY SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAMIC INDUSTRIES IN INDONESIA :: dipost pada 26 Juli 2019

SLEMAN – The recent development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has increased. This is a proof that the national Islamic finance industry has a great potency to continuely grow in supporting the economy in Indonesia.

The research support and the involvement of academics in the development of the Islamic finance industry in Indonesia are considered very important in the midst of increasingly intense competition in the financial services industry.

Supporting this fenomena, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Bank BNI Syariah regarding the utilization of Islamic banking products and services, at UPNVY Rectorate Building on Friday (7/26).

The UPNVY Chancellor, Mohamad Irhas Effendi, said that by having this collaboration, BNI Syariah could provide benefits to the university in the fields of education, research and community service.

"The scope of this collaboration is also related to the Hajj and Umrah savings facilities for the academic community in UPN", he explained after the signing.

Iwan Abdi, the Director of Retail & Network Business at BNI Syariah, said that the memorandum of understanding with the UPNVY is expected to provide solutions for the academic community in conducting transactions according to Islamic principles and be beneficial for both parties.

"BNI Syariah also opens opportunities for the UPNVY Students to be able to work in BNI Syariah", he said.

BNI Syariah hopes that this memorandum of understanding can be followed by having the legality for further business cooperation.

On that occasion, BNI Syariah handed over a CSR Scholarship worth 50 million rupiahs, and the Hasanah Card and Tap Cash  which is expected to be used by all UPNVY academics. (wwj / PR)
