The Governor of the Air Force Academy (AAU) TNI, Air Vice Marshal Tatang Harlyansyah, SE, MM, represented by the Director of Assessment (Dirjian) Colonel Lek Suparno, ST, officially opened the National Defense Guidance and Leadership Training Program for the senior students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” in Sabang Merauke AAU building, Yogyakarta, Monday (5/8/2019).
AAU is once again entrusted to be the organizer of the National Defense Character Development and Leadership Training program for university students in Yogyakarta after previously carrying out a similar program. The training which will be attended by around 118 students will be held for 2 days with various materials being prepared covering the formation of attitudes, leadership, morals and character, love of the motherland and militancy towards the defense of the nation and state.
The National Defense Character Development and Leadership Training aims to form a strong mental and physic for students. "This state defense training is intended to present students who are physically and mentally capable, as well as militants in maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of Indonesian", as stated in the Governor welcoming remarks as he read.
In line with the Dirjian, the Chancellor of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran”, Dr. Mohammad Irhas Effendi, M.S in his introductory remarks said that the National Defense Character Development and Leadership Training could be realized through changing the students’ attitudes and behavior to be professional state defense cadres, both from inside and outside the university environment.
In addition, the Dirjian also emphasized that the National Defense Character Development and Leadership Training was not a military program but a training program to inspire the enthusiasm of students to have the spirit and soul of leadership in loving and defending the sovereignty of the nation and state.
With the implementation of the National Defense Character Development and Leadership Training, it is hoped that the senior students from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran can absorb all the knowledge given and can apply it in the challenges of the workforce that they will face in the future.
