UPNVY PARTICIPATES IN THE 2ND NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND SEMINAR ON THE INDONESIAN PROFESSORS COUNCIL FORUM (FDGBI :: dipost pada 08 Agustus 2019

MAKASSAR - UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) orgatically does not yet have a Professor Council, but in the 2nd  National Conference of the Indonesian Professors Forum (FDGBI) has sent its representatives, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti K., M.Sc. The 2nd  FDGBI National Conference was held at the Claro Hotel Makassar, from 5 to 7 August 2019, with the host of Hasanuddin University.

The participants numbered 168 professors, delegates from 53 tertiary institutions in Indonesia, both state universities (PTN), and private universities (PTS).

The Regional Secretary who represented the Governor of South Sulawesi opened the National Conference and FDGBI Seminar. Acting as the Keynote speaker was the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform. It also carried out the appointment of the Chair of the FDGBI period 2019-2021, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Mursalim. Prof. Mursalim is the Head of Professors Board of Hasanuddin University. Meanwhile, the Deputy, as it was agreed, was Prof. Dr. Sutyastie Soemitro, the head of Professors Council of the Padjadjaran University Bandung. The strategic issues discussed in the National Conference included the contribution of the Professor's thought to the development of policy based in government, the Character of the Nation in the era of disruption of civilization, and the strategies to fill the gap of higher education in Indonesia.

On the other hand, the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the National Conference was divided into 4 groups. Each group discussed the values ??of togetherness and national character, the contribution of FDGBI in education, Indonesian Exit strategy in dealing with the China-American trade war, and the Government's Plan to recruite chancellors from abroad as well as awarding the title of Honorary Professor.  The Delegation of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta included in Group III. In group III FGD, it was agreed that the words of solution in facing the Chimerika trade war were Indonesia must be independent and sovereign in all fields.

In addition to the 4 topics discussed, the Forum also discussed the importance of the radicalization of Pancasila with a clear blue print to counter the understanding of religious radicalism that threatens Indonesia. This issue was expressed by Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Palubuhu, M.A., the Chancellor of Hasanuddin University. FDGBI also proposes and fights for the language of the Great Archipelago (Malay) as an international scientific language.

The results of the National Conference were summarized by the committee, and distributed them to all participants. The results of this National Conference, FDGBI will send a letter of recommendation addressed to the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Menristekdikti. The contents of the letter are the statements of attitude and proposals related to the recruitment plan of foreign chancellors and the appointment of honorary professors. In principle, the foreign rector's recruitment plan must go through a good study of various aspects. On the other hand, professors are the academic functional positions, not degrees. Therefore, it is not given as an honorary degree. (SBK / FTM)
