YOGYAKARTA, suaramerdeka.com - The people of Yogyakarta, especially the residents of Jering Backwoods, Sidorejo Village, Godean District, Sleman Regency, are proud and welcome Wungkel Mountain for being one of the geo heritage in Yogyakarta. Thus, the mountain which is located in the west of Sleman, becomes a new tourist attraction and a research center for students from various Yogyakarta colleges and universities in Indonesia and abroad. A member of the DIY Geo Heritage Proposing Team, Jatmika Setiawan, said that this Gunung Wungkal predicate, which has another name, Bukit Pandawa, is just waiting for the approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
According to him, the Regional Government of DIY also approved the addition of the Pandawa Hill as a geo heritage in DIY. "Later, there will be a proposal in every regency for a geo heritage tourism tour," he said, when receiving a visit from a research group from Petronas University of Technology, Malaysia, yesterday.
He continued that Sleman proposed Bukit Pandawa. '' This area will later become an area of ??tourism education for earth. So, this hill will eventually become a research center',' he explained.
This Geology Engineering Lecturer at UPN Veteran Jogja explained, Bukit Pandawa (Gunung Wungkal) will complete other geo heritages that had already been established in DIY.
According to Jatmiko, there are nine locations that were previously designated as geo-heritage areas in DIY. They are Breksi Cliff, Gunung Gamping, Lava Bantal (Sleman), Gumul Parangtritis (Bantul), Purba Volcano Ngelanggran, Ngalang River, and Mount Batur (Gunungkidul) Kiskendo Cave, and Mangaan Mining (Kulonprogo).
The Pandawa Hill area, he said, has a very rare geological structure. He gave an example that it was found lava remnants of ancient volcanoes at the location which were estimated to reach 40 million years old.
Still, according to Jatmiko, this unique structure is very rarely found elsewhere. One that has similarities is in Bayat Klaten, but its age is around 30 million years.
However, the geological structure in Bukit Pandawa Godean is claimed to be much better. The old rock instrument can be seen more clearly, and is easily accessible with its accessibility.
"The rocks here are the oldest in DIY. They are 40 million years old, or older than those in Klanggeran especially from Merapi which is only 2,000 million years old," he said.
If the area has become a tourism area, it is expected that people's welfare can be improved. The same thing has been experienced by people in Breksi Cliff and Lava Bantal.
"Cliff Breksi earns IDR 4 billion in one year and Lava Pillow earns IDR 2 billion per year. Many mining and oil experts have come to Pandawa Hill who are from Petro China and Petronas Malaysia," he said.
It only needs to wait for the hammer knock and the development rules of the Bukit Pandawa area as geo heritage. If this area has become a terrestrial education tourism area, it is hoped that the hilly area can be arranged even more beautifully. "In addition to the Pandawa Hill, we also propose the Peak of Suroloyo (Kulonprogo), Selarong Cave (Bantul)," he said.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Dewi Sri Sejati, Alim Sugiantoro, said that he would support the government's efforts to make the area a geo heritage in DIY.
Moreover, Bukit Pandawa is part of the Godean Hills low-income community housing project. "If it is included in the geo heritage area, then the surrounding community can also be empowered. We will certainly support the accessibility towards this new tour," Halim said.
"Hopefully, by having this tourism object, the community can be more prosperous," he added.
