SLEMAN - Two representative teams from UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) once again made achievements at the Petroleum Incorporated Fair (PI Fair) 2019 competition held by Trisakti University, in Jakarta, on September 13, 2019.

In the same competition last year, UPNVY representatives also won the championship. This year, UPNVY sent two teams from the Petroleum Engineering Department, namely CRONOCOS and AURORA to compete in the Oil Rig Design Competition.

The participants were assessed about how the participants designedan ideal semi-submersible rigs for drilling related to the theme stated "Technology Innovation for Energy Prosperity".

"The participants will be grouped to form a team and submit the design rig that they have designed. The team that passes the screening round and presents their rig in the presentation, and then they will be in a question and answer round that comes from the judges", said Heriyanto, one of the team representatives.

Furthermore, the rig model was tested for the load testing on land and in water. The judges assessed the load test, delivery of the presentation, rig model details, creativity, and innovation applied to the rig design and downsize. The team with the highest points will be claimed as the winner.

In this competition, the CRONOCOS team consisting of Heriyanto (113160053), Cahyadi Julianto (113160142), Nur Faeiz Aldiyanto (113160115), Atma Budi Arta (113160154), and Skolastika Pradipta Marganing Putri (113160113), competed for the Oil Rig Design Competition and won the Atma Budi Arta (113160154), and Skolastika Pradipta Marganing Putri (113160113), competing in the Oil Rig Design Competition and got the 1st winner.

Meanwhile, the AURORA team consisting of Mutiara Nurul Islam (113170106), M. Risdzky Reflida (113170004), M. Ridwan Firdaus (113170003), Maulana Syamil Basayev (113170043), and Yuan Cahyo Guntoro (113170021) succeeded in getting the 3rdplace in the same branch.

We would like to thank the Manager, Department, HMTM, SPEARHEADS, PETRONIUS and the seniors who have supervised and provided us with many inputs," said Heriyanto.

Heriyanto hoped that this achievement could push other students to continually contribute and be excellent in the national and international arena.

PI Fair 2019 is an international level oil and gas-based event that aims to increase the student’s knowledge and experience, and competitiveness among universities. There are several contests at the PI Fair2019 including the Mud Innovation Competition, Smart Competition, Paper Competition and Oil Rig Design Competition.

The event was attended by several universities namely ITB, ITS, UI, Trisakti University, PEM AKAMIGAS, Pertamina University, Proklamasi University '45 and UPN "Veterans" Yogyakarta. (wwj / PR)
