SLEMAN - Good news came from XVI National Student Sports Week (Pomnas XVI) in Jakarta. Valeria Paulini Yuwono, a student of Information System Study Program of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) successfully presented three medals after winning the swimming race at the competition which took place on 20-23 September 2019. Valeria Paulini was the only UPNVY representative who passed to represent the Special Province of Yogyakarta to compete at POMNAS.
In the first match which took place on Friday (9/20), Paulin competed in the women's 50 meter butterfly style. In this number, she successfully presented a bronze medal with a time of 29. 09 seconds.
On the next day, at the women's 100m freestyle, this third semester student successfully recorded a time of 59.48 seconds and won the second place. On the next day at the women's 50m freestyle, this UPNVY main swimming athlete presented a silver medal for the record of 27.49 seconds.
Prijoto, a swimming sports companion from BAPOMI DIY as well as a sports lecturer from UPNVY, said that this achievement is a pride for UPNVY and Yogyakarta Special Region.
"The athletes have worked hard before and during the match. This achievement is worthy of them”, he said when being contacted via text message.
There were 105 student athletes in POMNAS 2019 from 14 universities in DIY who have passed the selection to participate in 15 sports from a total of 19 sports competed in this event.
DIY was in the 6th rank until Monday night (9/23) with a medal of 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
