SLEMAN - When we hear about seismology, we remember that it is an earthquake. Seismology can be interpreted as the study of the phenomenon of vibration on earth, or in simple words, the science of earthquakes. Seismology is part of geophysics. Geeting to know more about seismology, the Geophysical Engineering Student Association (HMTGF), KSM in the Geophysical Engineering Department, and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists UPN Student Chapter (SEG UPN-SC) held a seminar entitled "What Seismology Can Contribute to Society", on Saturday (19/10) in UPNVY Rectorate Building. The seminar was attended by the Head of Seismological Service Bereau in Wuerttemberg, Germany, Dr. Wolfgang Bruestle and the Head of BMKG Yogyakarta First Class Station, Agus Riyanto, SP, MM.
This event received a positive appreciation from the participants who were from various universities in DIY.
This seminar is expected to be able to add insight into the world of seismology between Indonesia and Germany. Moreover, this seminar is also a means of education about seismology and earthquake disasters that have close links with regions in Indonesia
