SLEMAN - The threat of intolerance and radicalism increasingly threatens the unity and integrity of Indonesia. The young generations of Indonesian people are faced with intolerance and radicalism which are difficult to prevent. Therefore, the younger generation must be a unifying agent to make intolerance and radicalism disappeared from Indonesia.

For this reason, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional 'Veteran' Yogyakarta (UPNVY) held a panel discussion entitled "Young Generations as Unifying Agents Facing Intolerance and Radicalism". The panel discussion was held in the Seminar Room of the Arie Frederik Lasut Building, UPN Veterans Yogyakarta, Monday (10/28/2019).

The Head of the Pancasila Study Center Universitas Pembangunan Nasional 'Veteran' Yogyakarta (UPNVY), Lestanta Budiman, said that the intolerance and radicalism in Indonesia increasingly threatens the unity of Indonesia.

"Once again, Indonesia has an agreed state basis, namely Pancasila," said the man who is familiarly called Lobo.

Lestanta also threatens the groups that are trying to ruffle the state foundations of the Pancasila.

"If anyone tries to change the basis of our country, we must remind and re-realize him that Pancasila is the basis of our country cannot be changed," Lesmana continued.

The Chancellor of UPN 'Veteran' Yogyakarta, Mohamad Irhas Efendi, said that there was a threat that had to be faced by the Indonesian people.

"We agree that there are many threats we are facing now, namely intolerance and radicalism. Then, there is the threat of globalization, and so on", said Irhas.

Irhas admitted that learning Pancasila was increasingly monotonous and unattractive.

"We used to have a way to implement Pancasila. Yet, we then lost the sight of the methodology we use to strengthen its values ??that must be not only understanding it, but also internalization and our attitude based on Pancasila,"

Irhas hopes that the younger generation will get to know Pancasila better.

"Hopefully the younger generation can implement the meaning of Pancasila", said Irhas. (Ayu / adv)
