A total of 16 young lecturers participated in the "Design Thinking Training” which was held by the UPT International Language and Services at Quality Hotel, November 8, 2019.

To make the design of a solution, especially in the form of a product or application, a method that will be the direction in the manufacturing and design process is certainly needed. However, as time goes by, the essence of the design process is increasingly dangerous and evolving. The design is not just about making a product or application that will sell well in the market that has a beautiful and attractive shape, or is easy to make. Today's design is about creating something that users want and need.

The Design Thinking is one of the new methods in the design process. Design thinking is a problem solving method that focuses on the user. Design thinking itself was popularized by David Kelley and Tim Brown, the founder of IDEO, a consultant with an innovation-based product design background.

The process of design thinking method will produce products that cannot only be sold or use the most sophisticated technology”, said  the UPN Rector of "Veterans" Yogyakarta, M.Irhas Effendi in his speech.

This method combined the needs of the user   with the appropriate technological capabilities, and it still makes something that can succeed as a business.

This design thinking approach can also be used to solve social social problems. The community is approached with empathy to find their problems, and a solution can be developed together with the community, and it can be accepted by the community”, continued M.Irhas Effendi.

It is expected that the young lecturers participating in this training will be able to practice their knowledge at the time of community service. It also can guide students to the activities related to the community service. (Rita, PR)
