The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia once again offers Scholarship for Indonesian Arts and Culture Studies or Arts and Culture Scholarship 2017. This program is divided into two sections; the regular program and the specific program and will be held from May 6th to August 20th, 2017. The regular program consists of arts and culture and the participants will be placed in Surabaya, Bali, Bandung, Makassar or Padang. The specific program that comprises Indonesian socio-culture will be held in the Department of International Relationship of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.
The interest to participate in this program is quite high but the quota provided is limited, and therefore the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with the Indonesian consulate generals and embassies in different countries conducted a series of processes for the selection of the candidates of Arts and Culture Scholarship (BSBI) 2017. In order to improve knowledge and understanding about Indonesian arts and culture, 12 (twelve) participants have been selected and given the opportunity to study at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. These 12 recipients of the special scholarship for BSBI 2017 are Takamitsu Suzuki (Japan), Kim Hyeon Min (South Korean), Kamita Barbara Janosz (Germany), Charikleia Kolaiti (Greek), Jovana Bozilovue (Serbia), Jacklyn Brugge (the Ntherlands), Anastasia Pustylinyk (Ukraine), Zoe Charolette Bergmans (Australia), Kenneth Guvil (Papua New Guinea), Putri Carceres (TimorLeste), Paloma Pineda Sacristan (Mexico) and Maria Tatiana Bucca (Argentina).
The Arts and Culture Scholarship (BSBI) 2017 Program bearing the “Celebrating Diversity, Harnessing Harmony” theme is aimed at promoting the multi cultures and diversity existing in Indonesia. The opening, and at the same time, submission of the BSBI 2017 participants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta was conducted on Monday, May 15th, 2017 on the fourth floor of the Rector’s Building, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. The program was attended and opened by the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Sari Bahagiarti K, MSc., also attending the ceremony were Diplomatic Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Ali Busyra Basnur. The Rector stated that this program will provide the participants with knowledge of Indonesia, in particular its economy, social life, democracy, local wisdom, different religious faiths, cultures and traditions. Apart from those aspects, the participants will also study the Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia) for three months in the Department of International Relationship as the party entrusted to be the host of Arts and Culture Scholarship 2017 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
