There are several match numbers to be held. The categories of competition are solo art, dual art, and team art, both male and female. There are 10 classes in matches for the male duel category starting from the A-J class, while there are 6 classes for the female duel starting from the A-F. The single, double, and teams art category use weapons in the form of toya and machetes.

The Pencak Silat championship between students is an annual UPNVY agenda that has been held since 1995. Initially, this championship is held because of the lack of similar matches that accommodate all of the Pencak Silat colleges in the Higher Education environment.

This championship will compete for several prestigious trophies, one of which is the Republic of Indonesia Presidential Rotation Cup for the General Champion, which was won by Jakarta State University in 2017,  Trophy of Regent, Mayor, Dispora, Department of Tourism, DIY Regional Police, IPSI, KONI, and BAPOMI for the 1st winner of the Match Category (male / female) as well as the UPNVY Chancellor's Cup for favorite contingents.

It is planned that the Director General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D will present at the opening ceremony on February 10, 2020.

This National Championship is expected to be able to revive the soul of patriotism, nationalism, religious-cultural and humanistic which underlies professionalism in students' intellectual and morality in order to face the challenges of globalization.

Had missed the previous National Championship, UPNVY will have 13 athletes who will compete this year. (Wwj / public relations)
