Mohammad Abdul Khafid, student of the Environmental Engineering Department (2016), Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) again was managed to qualify to publish the results of his research in an international journal indexed by Scopus (Q1) after representing the LPPM Research Team UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta which is led by Dr. Heru Sigit Purwanto (Chairperson of LPPM UPNYK) and was a presenter at the international conference The 1st Dynasty International Conference on Digital Business and Management - (DICDBM 2020, on February 20, 2020 in Papandayan Hotel, Bandung.
DICDBM 2020 is an international conference activity managed by the Faculty of Economics and Business Winaya Mukti University to bring researchers, practitioners, and policy makers together to discuss problems, overcome challenges, develop professionally, share opinions, find solutions, and explore opportunities in business, management, digital tourism in welcomimg the business research era 5.0.
This international seminar which was held for the first time was attended by researchers, lecturers, masters and undergraduate students from Indonesia and overseas, namely Spain, Egypt, England, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Brunei, Thailand, Germany and countries from the African continent.
Khafid was the only UPNVY representative who passed a fairly rigorous and lengthy selection process. "Of the thousands of students applying from all over the world, only a few are accepted, this has become one of the triggers for my enthusiasm to be able to show my best during the program", he explained.
Before the presentation, M. Abdul Khafid had passed the administrative and research paperwork selection stage.
Khafid and the Researchers Team of LPPM UPNYK had a research on "Geosite Potential Assessment for Development of Geotourism and Adventure Tourism : A Case Study of Sepakung Area, Semarang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia" The research was conducted in the Sepakung Village, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency. The result is about the assessment of the feasibility of the geological sites in Sepakung Area and its surroundings to develop the geotourism and the potential adventure tourism (flying fox) in the Temple Hamlet area with an environmental insight. The result shows that out of the seven places that have been assessed, there are six locations that have been declared suitable for geotourism, namely Dukuh Temple, Rawa Pening Lake, Warm Springs of Temple Hamlet, Kaldera Suropati Mount, Kali Pancur Sesar Valley, and Kali Pancur Sesar Waterfall. Based on the assessment result of this site, it can be proposed to the related parties of education-based geotourism (natural laboratories) and adventure tourism for continously paying attention in the capacity of the environment.
"The reason for having this research theme is because there are many tourism potentials in various regions in Indonesia that have not yet been developed for the welfare of the community”, he explained.
At this conference, Khafid and the research team of LPPM UPNYK had the opportunity to present their work in front of delegations from various countries and successfully got into the publication of the International Journal (Indexed Scopus Q1).
