UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta Takes Part in Asean Agriculture University Network (AAUN) Establishment in Chiang Mai, Thailand :: dipost pada 02 Juli 2017

25 delegates from universities in ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) established The Asean Agriculture Network (AAUN) on June 30th, 2017 at Maejo University Campus, Chiang May, Thailand. The purpose of the establishment of the organization whose members are Asean universities having a Faculty of Agriculture and agriculture academies is to support collective improvement in agricultural education, Sciences and technology among the ASEAN member countries, and to enhance the contribution of agriculture to the development in each member country and in South East Asian countries, in general.

Several programs already provided by AAUN include cooperation of the member countries in education, researches, public responsibility programs, joint studies, joint seminars and mobilization of both lecturers and students. On the occasion, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta proposed an additional program, the international publication of scientific journals named Asean Agriculture Journal.

The Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti, K., M,Sc., attended the Meeting, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Partoyo, as the representative of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. This program was attended by 25 universities and academies from South East Asian countries, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand. Apart from the Asean coutries, a number of universities from mainland China and Taiwan were also invited as honorary members. 

The program held in Chiang May was followed with a fieldtrip to the “Rajapruek Royal Park”, a flower and agriculture garden in Thailand on July 1st, 2017.
