SLEMAN - UPN "Veterans" Yogyakarta (UPNVY), represented by the Covid-19 Prevention and Preparedness Task Force Team, distributed aid to students. It is in the form of food packages distributed to students in the Condong Catur and Wedomartani areas.
"In this first period, around 70 food packages were distributed. Next, there will be more distribution so that there will be no gathering”, explained Eko Teguh Paripurno, the Head of the Covid-19 Prevention and Preparedness Task Force Team, Saturday (11/4).
The distribution is carried out by the UPNVY Cooperative and sent via online motorcycle taxi services.
"Some use the drop-off system because of several lock down locations", he said.
Not only for students who live in boarding houses, but it is also given to students who live in the Special Region of Yogyakarta or live in parents' homes. According to Eko, some of them needed help because the family economic condition was also affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This package was from the university's budget and donations got by the UPNVY Disaster Management Study Center which he leads.
It received appreciation from UPNVY students, one of whom was Sofya Nina Marta Surya Dewi, the Agribusiness Study Program student who now lives in Bantul with her relatives positively welcomed the assistance from the campus.
"I lived boarding, but because of fear I ended up living in a relative's house. This assistance is quite helpful for me", said the student from Lampung.
A similar sentiment was also conveyed by Triwinasis, an Accounting Study Program student. As a person who lives in a boarding house, the assistance provided by the university helped her greatly.
"My boarding house location is soft lockdown so there is still access to go outside the village. Yet, many stalls are closed, this assistance really help me", said the student from Cilacap.
In addition to the assistance of groceries packages, UPNVY plans to also provide 20 GB quota internet package assistance to the students. It will be given for 3 months in order to support the online student lectures. (wwj / PR)
