Yogyakarta - Dr. Ir. Eddy Winarno, S.Sc., MT, was elected as the Head of Mining Engineering Department of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) for the period 2020-2024. The election was based on a meeting of the Mining Engineering Department lecturers, Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta led online by Dr. Edy Nursanto, ST, MT, IPM, on Monday, April 20, 2020, at 14.00 WIB.

Dr. Edy Nursanto, ST, MT, IPM as the Head of the Mining Engineering Department of Mineral Technology Faculty UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta in the 2016-2020 period stated that hopefully the elected chairperson of the Mining Engineering Department could improve the study programs accreditation, improve the cooperation with domestic and foreign universities and be able to take UPN "Veterans" Yogyakarta be a leading university and be able to contribute at the local, regional and global level. Further more, he will be able to improve the welfare of steakholders, both the  internal and external ones.

"The election of the Head of Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Mineral Technology UPN" Veteran "Yogyakarta was based on the acquisition of 40 votes from the Permanent Lecturers of the Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Mineral Technology. Dr. Ir. Eddy Winarno, S.Sc., M.T got a superior vote of 24 votes, while Dr. Rika Ernawati, S.T., M, Si got 16 votes in the online Head Department election.

Ir. R. Hariyanto, M.T. as the election hief executive of the Head of Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Mining Technology UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta in the 2020-2024 period said that this election was held virtually which was chosen as an alternative in carrying out campus democracy in the midst of the Covid - 19 pandemic", said the chief executive when being interviewed online.

According to Ir. R. Hariyanto, M.T, the online election was in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Culture; the election was conducted by e-voting (electronic voting).

"I hope that by conducting online elections, it can break the chain of the Covid-19 pandemic spread  that has plagued Indonesia", he added.

On the same occasion, Dr. Ir. Eddy Winarno, S.Sc., M.T, as the Head of Mining Engineering Department selected at the Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta for the period of 2020-2024 expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the head of the department of the period 2016 – 2020.

He also said that he would carry out the transformation of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta as a new PTN in Yogyakarta to be able to compete at the national and regional level. "The future target of the Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Mineral Technology UPN" Veteran "Yogyakarta for period 2020-2024  is to go international with the motto of Mining Green Globally Goal (M3G), comfortable-productive for students, academic staffs, and lecturers, participatory-collaborative for the alumni, industry , and college.
