The COVID-19 pandemic has changed various aspects of life. Not only the health and economic sector, but education is also affected. Even so, it does not mean that education is then stuck because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta (UPNVY) released 1,269 students to carry out the Community Service Program (KKN). Not only in Yogyakarta, but the Community Service Program is also conducted outside DIY, such as in Palembang and Pekanbaru.
"The release event this time was not carried out as usual in the field, but specifically it is done online, and the KKN implementation will also be online," said the chancellor of UPNVY, Mohamad Irhas Effendi, Tuesday (6/30/2020).
In releasing the online KKN students, Irhas said that the theme taken was also related to current conditions. There are also 3 topics highlighted in the 72nd KKN, namely health, economy and social.
Higher education has an important role for the village in overcoming health and economic problems, and strengthening the social resilience with the community. UPNVY who also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health PDTT some times ago tried to realize it through the KKN program.
"Hopefully the thematic KKN this time is able to build a resilient village in COVID-19. "Together with the community, the students can be able to find alternative solutions and assistance, it is hoped that after the Community Service Program is completed, it can be a village that is resilient in fighting a pandemic," he said.
The KKN mechanism this time is also different from previous years. If students usually have to come to the village, the program this time is mostly run online. The campus has also discussed with the regency of Sleman, Gunungkidul, Bantul, Yogyakarta, and Magelang.
There is a request from Bappeda to assist the implementation of the dissemination of COVID-19," said Hendro Wijanarko, the Head of LPN (Institute for Research and Community Service) UPNVY.
Although conducted in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Service program continues to be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
