SLEMAN – To be able to continue study to a tertiary education is a dream for almost all high school or high school level students. This is also the dram of Afriliani H. Handini. She and two of her friends, Fitri Wulandari and Nur Halimah studied hard to take the Independent Selection  held at the UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY). Afriliani is a Bidikmisi participant, with a National Examination grade 32.5.

Along with 5563 other participants, Afriliani joined the Independent Selection Test which was held on Sunday (9/7/2017). She selected Geophysical Engineering as her first choice and Agro-engineering as her second choice.

Afriliani hopes that, if she passes the test, she would be able to enjoy studying at a university.  By being a student of a state university, she could lessen the financial burden of her parents, her father being a driver making money to finance her study.

“I chose this study program with the hope that there will be a lot of opportunities when I finish my study. I only enroll with UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta,” said Afriliani who was waiting in front of the test room on UPN Condong Catur Campus.

The elder child of two said that she had prepared herself before taking the test. She studied test models and even prayed to pass the selection test. If she passes the selection test she promises to study seriously.

“Before leaving the house to come here, I asked my mother to pray for me. My father was working out of town, in Jakarta, so I could not say goodbye to him,“ said Afriliani.

At the State Vocational School I of (SMK Negeri I) Depok, the social sciences and humanities test participants were seen entering the test room. Unlike the science and technology test participants who started the test at 08.00, the social science and humanities test participants started the test at 10.00 a.m. one of these participant was Maura Kevin (18 years old)

He admitted that he had studied hard to prepare to the test. This graduate of De Brito High School, admitted that his National Examination Grade was not really good, that way he studied hard to take and pass the selection test.

“I follow my father’s trace to study at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. This is and good university and by studying at this university I hope that I will be able to help my parents with the business with the knowledge that I get,” he said, entering the test room.

In this selection test Kevin selects management study program, as his first choice, and accounting, his second choice. Apart from UPNVY he admitted, he also enrolls with another state university and private university.

Do the test well and Congratulations!!!
