SLEMAN - A total of 2,441 participants takes the computer-based written exam (UTBK) at Universitas Pembangunan Pembangunan Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY).
The UTBK implementation is divided into two stages which are July 5-July 14, 2020 (first stage) and July 20-July 29, 2020 (second phase). UTBK itself takes place in two sessions. Each session will be attended by 150 participants.
For this UTBK, UPNVY provides 10 rooms in the Patimura building on campus II Babarsari, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman. There are 15 units of computers with five reserves in every room and are supervised by a supervisor and technical team.
The UTBK Implementation follows the health protocol standard of COVID-19. Each participant must wear a mask, handscoen, long sleeves and face shield or Google glasses. Before entering the room, the participant must wash the hands with soap in a designated place and check the body temperature. If the temperature is 37.5 degrees Celsius, no entry should be made and a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) is recommended.
Those who are sick during the exam will be taken to a special room and taken to a referral hospital. The participants who do not meet the Health protocol may not join the exams.
In addition, all committee members in this activity (supervisors, technical team and cleaning staff) must also wear complete personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, face shields, handscoens, long sleeves and hazmat clothes.
The chancellor of UPNVY, Muhammad Irhas Effendi, said that the UTBK implementation 2020 during the pandemic was different from the previous ones. In addition to its implementation with the COVID-19 health protocol standard, there is no cross-regional. For example, the participants of UTBK DIY are only from DIY.
Other changes is that the UTBK score used to choose study programs (majors) or departments during the joint selection of state universities (SBMPTN) has been changed. The participants directly choose study programs or graduates at PTN this year. The previous selection used a scholastic potential test (TPS) and academic ability tests (TK), but it only uses TPS this year.
TPS measures the cognitive abilities which consist of general reasoning abilities, quantitative knowledge, general knowledge and understanding, as well as the ability to understand reading and writing.
"Having this protocol, UTBK is expected to run safely and securely," explained Irhas on the UTBK sidelines on UPNVY Campus II, Sunday (07/07/2020).
The Chairman of New Student Admission (PMB) of UPNVY, Hendro Widjanarko, added that UPNVY on the academic year of 2020/2021 will receive 3,655 new student candidates (camaba). The quota is divided into National Higher Education Entrance Test (SNMPTN), Joint Higher Education Entrance Test (SBMPTN) and Independent Selection (SM).
"SNMPTN provides 713 camaba seats, SBMPTN provides 1,782 seats, and SM provides 1,160 seats," he concluded.
