Sleman - Chemical Engineering Study Program, Industrial Engineering Faculty of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta held a National Seminar on Struggle Chemical Engineering 2020 (SNTKK 2020). This activity was followed by 147 participants which took place for two days on July 14 and 15, 2020 online using a teleconferencing application. There were 147 participants which consisted of 101 paper presenters and 46 non paper presenters with professions as academics, practitioners and students who came from the provinces of DIY, Central Java, East Java, West Java, and Riau.

Dr. Avido Yuliestyan, S.T., M.Sc. as the chairman of the organizer said there were 81 papers presented and published in the Proceedings of the National Seminar on Struggle Chemical Engineering in 2020. The topic raised at the SNTKK 2020 was "Development of Material Processing Technology for Increasing the Added Value of Natural Resources in the Framework of National Independence and Defence". Therefore, the SNTKK 2020 presented a keynote speaker with a background in a highly relevant field of expertise, namely Vice Admiral Dr. A. Octavian, S.T., M.Sc. DESD (Chancellor of Universitas Pertahanan) and Ir. Alva Edy Tontowi, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN. Eng. (Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, UGM). SNTKK which is an annual routine activity of the Chemical Engineering Department of FTI of UPNVY and is a means of communication for researchers from universities, educational institutions, as well as research institutions and industry in developing chemical technology for processing natural resources in Indonesia was officially opened by the Chancellor of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Dr. Muhammad Irhas Effendi, M.S.

Avido added that efforts to improve the national defence and security were carried out through several contributions in the form of inclusive public order, high-power defense and dignified security institutions. The important research contributions are realized with the opening of research cooperation opportunities with a focus on materials as the supporting capacity of Indonesia's defence and security technology. The topic of "beyond paper" is very interesting and inspires the researchers to be able to improve the quality of their research results which were previously only limited to scientific products into industrial products that can be enjoyed by the wider community.

He hopes there is motivation for the participants to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic conditions with a new normal life that must be lived positively. In addition, it is hoped that the current conditions can make the Indonesian people be more innovative, intelligent and creative in dealing with situations.
