SLEMAN - Happiness seen from the face of Muhammad Jhidan Ramadhan when he passed the Independent Selection for Achievement Path Admissions at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY), Friday (7/8/2020).

Jhidan along with around 75 other participants successfully passed it after taking the online exam on 27 and 28 July 2020. Jhidan himself was declared as a student of the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture.

"Alhamdulilah, I am accepted in the first choice. My second choice is Agrotechnology," said the alumni of SMAN 17 Palembang via short message.

The only son of Marjoni Khalik and Ermyati Andika Fitriani did not expect that his karate achievements when he was in school would lead him to be one of the students at a state university.

Jhidan said that he had participated in karate since he was in elementary school, and only joined the regional karate team in 2017.

Jhidan, who was born in Palembang, December 1, 2001, said that at first, he was forced by his parents to take part in karate training. Yet, over time, he becomes even more serious in the martial arts.

"I myself practiced at the Sukabangun branch, Palembang. Although initially told by my parents, now it has become a hobby," he said

He has won various achievements including 1st place at the Sports Week for South Sumatra Province in 2017, 2nd place at the Sports Week for South Sumatra Province 2019, and 3rd place at MENPORA Cup 2019.

A different thing was felt by Mohammad Ziddan Fachrirobi, one of the Achievement Admission participants, who failed to pass the selection. He who registered through Hafidz's achievements or memorized Al Qur'an had not succeeded in becoming UPNVY students as he dreamed.

Even though he failed, Zidan admitted that he was still enthusiastic about taking other opportunities through the written test.

Achievement Acceptance Path is one of the Independent Selection pathways held by UPNVY at New Student Admission 2020. This pathway is for students who have achievements in the fields of Sports, Arts, and Science and Technology (science and technology) at the provincial, national and international levels.

In addition to acceptance of the Achievement Pathway, there are admission through UTBK scores and written tests. They have been opened 23 July - 24 August 2020. Complete information can be accessed through the pmb.upnyk.ac.id page. (wwj / public relations)
