SLEMAN - UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) responded quickly and followed up on information that one of its students was positive for Covid-19. The Chancellor of UPNVY instructed quarantine or independent isolation for six lecturers, two education staff, and 16 students for 14 days. The instruction is issued with UPNVY Rector's Order Number. 210 / UN62 / KP.15 / 2020 concerning Regional Quarantine, Independent Isolation, Sterilization and Provision of Health Protocol Needs, on September 2, 2020.
This letter was announced as an effort to prevent the transmission and spread of the Covid-19 virus in the campus environment. The letter instructed the Dean of one of the faculties to carry out a regional quarantine (lockdown) for seven days.
Eko Teguh Paripurno, the Chairperson of UPNVY Covid-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force when contacted by cell phone Thursday (3/9) confirmed that one of his students was positive for Covid-19.
"The person concerned is currently undergoing quarantine and receiving treatment," he explained.
Eko said the Chancellor along with the UPNVY Covid-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force immediately responded by sterilizing and temporarily closing the building of one of the faculties. He coordinated with the Primary Clinic at the university and Puskesmas (Public Health Center) Depok II to conduct tracing to the parties related to AA. From the search results, it was found that several parties made contact with AA. Puskesmas Depok II then classified the data based on the duration of interaction with AA, namely close contact and short contact.
"Close contact category is the lecturers who met face to face and interact with AA in a long duration and are also over 50 years old. Or students who interact for a long duration with AA. They will have a swab test this week," Eko explained.
Meanwhile, the short contact category is the parties who only met and interacted with AA for a short duration, and they will undergo a rapid test.
Until now, the activities at UPNVY, both on campus 1 which is located in Condongcatur and Campus 2 in Babarsari, are still running normally. The protocol for the prevention and transmission of Covid 19 continues and is tightened.
