Closing of PKK-BN UPNVY 2020 Held Talkshow and Letto Concert Becoming Learners in a New Era at the State Defence Campus :: dipost pada 25 September 2020

Yesterday (25/9) was the last day of the Introduction to State Defence Campus Life (PKK-BN) Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) 2020. The event was attended by the Chancellor of UPNVY, Dr Drs Mohamad Irhas Effendi MSi, the General Director of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture Prof. Ir Nizam MSc DIC PhD, and the General Director of Pothan Kemhan Prof. Dr. Ir Bondan Tiara Sofyan MSi.

In the PKK-BN activity which was carried out online, Irhas Effendi said that this activity was the initial door for introducing state defence for new students (maba). Later on, this state defence will be implemented, one of which is through Citizenship Education. "After we have the students, they starts with PKK-BN (to) cultivate an understanding of the state defence values," he said.

Professor Bondan added that every citizen has the obligation to defend the state in accordance with applicable laws.

For this reason, civic education carried out through the State Defence Awareness Development (PKBN) constitutes civic education for all citizens.

He also emphasized that PKBN did not mean military education, but civic education.

The importance of defending the country was also conveyed by Prof. Nizam. According to him, facing this fast-paced change, it takes the spirit of defending the country as the strength of a nation in order to survive in this new era. "This transformation requires our solidity as a nation. We really need to implement the spirit of defending the country in a very broad sense,” he said.

In addition to conveying the importance of defending the country for students, PKK-BN 2020 also held a talkshow with millennial figures with the theme "Tips for Having Higher Education and All Other Challenges". It presented Andri Rizki Putra, the founder and chairman of the Indonesian Children's Leaders Foundation (YPBA). Andri is also an LPDP scholarship recipient student who continues his study at Boston University. The PKK-BN 2020 event was closed with a Letto concert which was broadcast live via UPNVY Youtube channel.
