Sleman - To realize the opportunity to learn to play music at an affordable cost for children, Lecturers in the Accounting Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) who are part of the community service program team, encourage the development of music studios Serenade Jogja which has international standard.
Established since 2013 in Krajan, Tirtomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Serenade Jogja focuses on learning violin for elementary to junior high school children. Along with the children's needs for music, the learning materials eventually also add to the piano, cello, vocals and guitar.
Hari Kusuma Satria Negara, SE., M.Acc., Ak., CA, and Dr. Dian Indri Purnamasari, M.Sc., Ak., CA identified several problems in Serenade Jogja. First, it needs a standard by formulating a standard operating procedure (SOP) for learning music through online media. It is necessary to look at various national and international references for collaboration, in order to find the right approach.
The second problem is that learning music online requires the availability of adequate tools along with the locations and tools used to make everything possible to have it online.
"The service team will help map the needs of systems, hardware and software that are adequate at a minimum," said Hari Kusuma, through a written statement, Thursday (22/10/2020).
The third problem is that more professional and online learning clearly requires supporting facilities for learning and documenting videos such as a digital piano, amply keyboard, and microphone recording.
"The service team will help try to analyse these needs and provide them according to the availability of funds," said Hari Kusuma.
Hari Kusuma said, Serenade Jogja has a vision to create a creative and humanist young generation. The mission is also to be a cultural inspiration for young people and children.
Serenade Jogja uses classical learning methods and is standardized by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM). With such standards, it is hoped that students can develop themselves optimally.
"Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the teaching and learning activities at the studio have stopped temporarily. Serenade Jogja has decided it to reduce the risk of transmission," said Hari Kusuma.
Even so, the teachers thought hard about how to keep the children practicing at home. Not by studying online, but by making collaboration videos.
"The song material is sent via WhatsApp in pdf form. The children are then asked to record based on the accompaniment that has been made. Several songs have finally been made. Many parents said this method was very useful," said Hari Kusuma.
Apart from that, Serenade Jogja is also a music community, ensemble and orchestra, which involves children. With this community or music group, it is hoped that they will be able to provide the experience of playing together, listening to each other, appreciating each other, and obtaining a more complete colour music.
Music is a necessity for many people. Whether you want to learn about music, be able play music, or just listen to it.
For those who want to learn to play music, the fact is that not all children have the opportunity to study at music institutions with national or international brand affiliations at an affordable cost.
When many children cannot enjoy this opportunity, the emergence of a community in the form of a music studio, both formally and informally, is of course an expectation of learning music at an affordable cost.
A community must begin with something informal, from a sense of care to musical opportunities for all circles. There is a unity of several parties who are then moved to create a community in the form of a music studio.
Of course, starting with a musical instrument that they are good at, thereby they themselves will find it easier to relate their talents and idealism in teaching music to children who want to learn music
