Sleman - Two teams of Student Creativity Week (PKM) from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta qualify for the 33rd PIMNAS (National Scientific Week) 2020 event. PIMNAS 2020 is organized by National Achievement Center (PUSPRESNAS) of the General Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University (UGM). The PIMNAS 2020 activity is carried out online through Zoom and the Youtube channel of the National Achievement Center on 24-29 November 2020. The PIMNAS 2020 activity is an annual activity that becomes an event for students throughout Indonesia to increase their creativity in the development of science, technology and art as well as improving their skills in submitting intellectual work in scientific forums. Two teams from UPNVY will compete in the PKM-M (Community Service PKM) and PKM-PE (Exact Research PKM) categories.

The following is the title of the PKM that passed the 33rd  PIMNAS organized by the National Achievement Center (PUSPRENAS) in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University:

  1. Utilization of Plastic Bottle Waste as Pipe Glue in Sukunan Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta (PKM-M Category), by Sinta Nur Senja, Indah Putri Wahyuni, Salsabila Safia Dyaninta, Akmal Baihaqi, and Muhammad Hanif Ardiyan.
  2. Integration of Geomagnetic Methods and Induce Polarization to Determine the Potential of Gold Deposits in Randu Kuning, Selogiri, Wonogiri, Central Java (PKM-PE Category) by Fauzi Yul Chaidir, Gilvandro Rumahorbo, and Okta Dwi Puspita.

Tri Wibawa, S.T. , M.T. as the coach of the UPNVY PKM Center explained that “there were 15 PKM proposals from UPNVY that passed the funding and consisted of 7 PKM-Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) proposals, 1 PKM-Karsa Cipta (PKM-KC) proposal, 4 PKM-Community Service (PKM-M ), 1 PKM-Exact Research (PKM-PE), and 2 PKM-Application of Technology (PKM-T). Due to the 33rd PIMNAS 2020 stage, 2 UPNVY teams were able to pass it. However, we have a lot of hope for the two teams to win champion and make UPNVY be proud at the PIMNAS 2020 event.

Sleman - Three Students from the Faculty of Mineral Technology, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY)  won the championship in the Geological Events of MAGMADIPA, GEMA 5th, 2020 organized by the Magmadipa Geological Engineering Student Association, Diponegoro University, 7 October 2020. Three UPNVY students won the prizes in the event, Ryan Rangga Yudhiatma (Geological Engineering 2016), Amara Mahda (Geophysical Engineering 2016), Refita Khumayroh (Geophysical Engineering 2017), Amrupranadi Muhammad (Geophysical Engineering 2017), and Fajar Hari Cahyana (Geological Engineering 2017).

Ryan Rangga Yudhiatma as the 1st winner of the Oral Presentation said that the background for selecting the Kerek Formation as the research location was because it was suspected that the area had the potential to produce hydrocarbons in the form of petroleum.

He added that as people know, petroleum is a resource that is very much needed in meeting energy needs and has economic value. Therefore, the research was carried out to find out how the Kerek Formation was formed, the history and process of its formation, and the composition of the materials making up the formation, which in essence as it is viewed geologically, this location could contain hydrocarbons.

"Pandemic conditions like this should be used as a momentum to be able to learn better. Stay enthusiastic in studying and fill your spare time with positive things, for example making scientific papers,” said Ryan when being interviewed online.

Amara Mahda as the 3rd Winner of Oral Presentation said that the sub-themes of his research were Geotourism, Geohazard and Geoenvironment with the title of "An Analysis of the Potential for the Appearance of a Sinkhloe in Gunung Kidul Regency Based on Geomorphological Studies and Geoelectric Data for Geological Disaster Mitigation Efforts".

He added that sinhkole as information is a hole that usually appears suddenly in a location where the rock is easily dissolved by water and then it is burdened by a large enough mass.

"Initially, my friends and I saw the news on social media about the appearance of this sinkhole which claimed victims, so we took the initiative to analyze the appearance of the sinkhole. It is hoped that this research can be useful for the surrounding community as information on potential geological disasters," said Mahda when beinginterviewed online.

On the same occasion, Refita Khumayroh as the representative of the 3rd winner in the e-Poster category said that the sub-theme taken was Geology and Geophysics with the title of "Identification of Subsurface Structures and Mineralization Zones Using Geomagnetic Methods in the Kaligono Area, Kaligesing District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java”.

Refi added that the area had not been measured using geophysical methods. Therefore, a magnetic method is used to delineate the mineralized zone in the area. In the study area, an analysis of the fault structure trending northwest - southeast is obtained which is thought to be a channel way of hydrothermal solution that carries ore mineralization in the study area. Where there is a fault that has a high magnetic value, it indicates that the fault structure is a hydrothermal fluid pathway that facilitates the formation of mineralization. However, there are faults that do not control the mineralized zone which have low magnetic values. If it is analyzed from the strike structure that is formed both major and minor faults, it is also relatively northwest-southeast.

"Hopefully, this research can be a good starting point for the future research because it is possible to carry out further research in that area. Hopefully, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta will also be more enthusiastic in doing research," added Refi

To understand, the Geological Events of  5th  MAGMADIPA GEMA 2020 is organized by the Geological Engineering Student Association of Diponegoro University which consists of two sub-events, the Magmadipa Geology Olympiad (OGMA) and the Sustainability Energy Conference (SEC). SEC's activity is in the form of a Paper and Poster Competition with the theme "The Role of Geoscience on Energy Sustainability and Technology for National Issues". The series of SEC activities began with a National Seminar on Disasters with the theme "Geoscience Perspective of Hazard Mitigation and Disaster Issues in Indonesia" which discussed how the government handles disasters in Indonesia and its long-term plans. After that, it was followed by Oral Presentation and Poster Display which were held online on October 7, 2020. Public Relations

nta Nur Senja as the team leader from UPNVY for the PKM-M category explained, "although the conditions for PIMNAS 2020 are different from what it was before and it made us have to compete online, it does not break our enthusiasm in preparing to compete in this PIMNAS 2020".

On the same occasion, Fauzi Yul Chaidir as the team leader from UPNVY for the PKM-PE category said, "the conditions that require all of us to do online activities today are not an obstacle in continuing to work and be creative. Hopefully, the achievements (both in academic and non-academic fields) that are upheld by UPN students will increase during this pandemic. PR
