SLEMAN - A total of 100 students attended a full day of leadership training at the Ksatrian Air Force Academy, Yogyakarta, Thursday (3/8/2017). The participants were students of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) from various departments who were the members of Kepaitian Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus/PKK (introduction to the campus environment). They were trained to prepare themselves in accompanying new students to know the campus environment.

The participants were guided directly by instructors from the Air Force Academy. A series of trainings included the character development, discipline, nationalism, and state defense.

One of the coaches, Major Adm. Raharjo said the training was held to train the participants how to behave, act, and become a leader. The training would be implemented in daily life of either the student or community.

"For leadership material, there is a psychology session that there are games to provoke courage in conveying ideas, coordinating, being responsible for the friends. We apply the same model with the others, "he said after providing debriefing to the participants.

Major Adm. Raharjo who is also a Lecturer at Air Angeran Academy, said that a leadership training was one of many ways to improve the ability and skills of the students as a part of the learning process.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector of Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Ir. Singgih Saptono, M.T said the training was to strengthen the sense of nationality and love of the homeland among the students as the next generation of the nation.

 "It is very useful to prepare a strong leader character who has high integrity to the nation," he said in UPN Condong Catur Campus.

Singgih told PKK UPNVY that defending the country was the main material of character education. The education, among others, enforced the values ??of discipline, stance, creativity, love of the homeland, and commitment in maintaining the four pillars of Indonesian nationality. This training would be a provision to build a beloved nation and state based on the soul of discipline, struggle, and creativity. (wwj / humas)
