History of the MASTERS OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM

In 1999, a preparation team for the UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta postgraduate program opening was established, which was headed by Prof. Dr. Ir. C. Danisworo, M.Sc. After overcoming various challenges over this time, the University of Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta postgraduate program has now successfully opened various study programs.

The Masters of Industrial Engineering program obtained operating permission through, No. 2648/DT/2006, from the Director of Higher Education.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

To provide industrial engineering education that is oriented to the needs and developments of science in order to produce postgraduate students who have the ability to design, improve and install systems in a comprehensive manner and who are able to compete globally.

To educate and prepare students to become experts in the field of industrial engineering with an emphasis on comprehending high work productivity and optimal performance.

To pursue and produce research and development activities that will contribute to advancements in science and technology.

To conduct community service by resolving industrial problems and by being able to increase the capacity and improve the quality of education nationally.

EDUCATION STAFF

The UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta Masters of Industrial Engineering is led by education staff with the following qualifications:

Preference is given to teaching staff that have a PhD to be responsible for each subject provided to students.

In order to further broaden students knowledge, general lectures are provided by ”Guest Lecturers” who have expertise in engineering, management and other fields of science.

LECTURES

The Masters of Industrial Engineering program consists of classical lectures, general lectures, group discussions, independent assignments and seminars. The UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Masters of Industrial Engineering program holds classes as follows :

a.) 4 days per week from 08.00 until 15.00

b.) Morning classes will be opened when there is a minimum of 10 students

MATRICULATION Program

Prospective students with a Provisional Standing status must attend the matriculation program before the first semester begins. The subjects in the matriculation program include:

a)      Introduction to Industrial Engineering                   2 semester credit units

b)      Engineering Economics                                           2 semester credit units

c)       Operational Research                                           2 semester credit units

STUDENTS

UPN ”Veteran’ Yogyakarta Masters of Industrial Engineering program  participants include university graduates (engineering, mathematics and natural sciences, economics etc) including executives, practitioners, tenured/non-tenured education staff in higher education or decision making who want to further their studies in the field of engineering and management in a more focused and in-depth manner.

SELECTION OF STUDENTS

Selection of prospective students is based on the following criteria:

  1. Has an undergraduate degree from an array of disciplines that comply with National Education Department requirements.
  2. Recommendations from two lecturers in their undergraduate program and the head of their workplace (for those who are working).
  3. Sitting the entrance tests that consist of a test on academic potential and a motivation test (interview).

ACADEMIC TITLE AND STATUS

Students who successfully complete this program are entitled to a Masters of Engineering (MT) title in accordance to provisions at the Directorate General of Higher Education, National Education Department.

CURRICULUM

To complete studies, students must take a minimum of 42 semester credit units of compulsory and elective subjects within a cumulative study time of 4 tri-mesters.

FUNDING AND WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES

- Postgraduate students who excel and who are willing can be selected to become research assistants or laboratory assistants and receive a fee in accordance to UPNVY conditions.

- There are opportunities to obtain research funds from the Department of Education (Post grants), the Department of Research and Technology and other agencies in accordance to the proposal submission.

ProfesSiONS & EMPLOYMENT FOR GRADUATES

1.    Consultant,  doing economic analysis and institutionalizing technology, empowering communities, facilitation and community organizing as well as working as a trainer in regard to science, technology and the community.

2.    Researcher, doing economic analysis, institutionalizing technology, systems design, research on various aspects of technology, policies and their implementation.

3.    Bureaucrat, as research staff at an array of government agencies, planning and decision making in the area of technology and society.

4.    Academic, teaching related to science, systems within industries so that productivity rises adequately.

5.    Entrepreneurs, developing products and services that are greatly beneficial economically and socially; they have the ability to manage human resources and expertise in decision making and administrative management.

registration ProcedureS & location

Requirements:

A.      Undergraduate degree from any field of study

B.      Payment of Rp. 250.000 registration fee per student through BPD DIY Bank, UPNVY Cash Office Attach 2 photocopies of the undergraduate degree and academic transcript scores that have been certified by the university of origin. 3 copies of 4x6 passport photos and 2 copies of proof of payment of the registration fee.
