SLEMAN - UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) socializes IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) to 298 Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan and Ternate, North Maluku during the first half year of 2018. This activity is the second year of UPNVY cooperation with Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) on Socialization and Facilitation of Registration to the Intellectual Property Rights 2018.
"On this 2nd year, we have already had a better experience than the first year. Our ability to overcome various obstacles that suddenly appear is getting better. The focus of this year's activities will remain on the scheme of industrial design, copyright and trademark, "said Ari Wijayani, the head of IPR UPNVY Center, at the Limited Group Discussion of Socialization and Facilitation of IPR Registration for Creative Economy Actors of 2018 at Royal Ambarukmo Hotel on Friday (06/22/2018).
Ari reported that UPNVY is currently responsible for socializing and facilitating IPR registration in 8 major cities in Indonesia, namely Ternate, Langsa, Tanjung Selor, Lubuk Linggau, Jambi, West Sumbawa, Bojonegoro and Poso.
"We managed to collect 176 business actors to register IPR from two cities. We soon go to other cities this month, "said Ari.
On the same occasion, the Deputy of Intellectual Property Rights Facility (IPR) and Regulation of Bekraf, Ari Juliano Gema said that this activity is to encourage creative business actors to immediately have the intellectual property rights (IPR). The implementation of this activity is a concrete effort of Bekraf in realizing a conducive creative economic ecosystem and a socialization of the importance of respecting and protecting intellectual works as future supporters.
"Some time ago we also conducted a socialization of IPR run concept, combining between running and IPR. We are aware that the socialization efforts must be done in a massive way because one of the protections of creative economic actors is through IPR, " he said in front of the participants.
In the future, continued Ari Juliano IPR will become an asset that can be the collateral in financial institutions. Currently, it is in the consultation with financial institutions.
"The assets are not only physical but also ideas and thoughts. There has already been copyright laws but the financial institutions still hesitate to make this as a guarantee, " he said
To have that direction, it will also prepare a certified IPR certification profession in cooperation with the financial institutions.
Previously, the Chairman of UPNVY Institute for Research and Community Service, Heru Sigit Purwanto conveyed the need for certification for creative industry actors to protect the workforce in carrying out the profession. (wwj / humas)
