Four state universities in Yogyakarta, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, Universitas Gajah Mada (Gajah Mada University), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (State University of Yogyakarta) and UIN Sunan Kalijaga (Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University) have socialized the National Selection for Entries to State Universities (SNMPTN). Doctor Muhammad Irhas Effendi, M.S (Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs), served as the key speaker, representing UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.
On the occasion the four state universities explained that the National Selection for Entries to State Universities (SNMPTN) would be conducted by each university as per the synchronized national system based on the retracement or historical records of academic performance and portfolio.
As the specific SNMPTN requirements for High Schools, Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic High Schools) and Vocational Schools, such schools must have the National Registered School Number (NPSN). After filling up the Database of Schools and Students (Pangkalan Data Sekolah dan Siswa), the students registering for SNMPTN are required to have consistent and excellent academic performance, the National Registered Student Number (NISN) and must be registered in the Database of Schools and Students (PDSS), with excellent academic report scores from semester 1 - 5 being recorded in the PDSS. The allocated accommodating capacity for SNMPTN of each prodi (educational product) must be at least 30% of the quota conferred to each educational product at the State Universities. The maximum quota of Independent Selection (Seleksi Mandiri) of State Universities is 30% of their accommodating capacity for each educational product available at the State Universities. The expenses incurred by the SNMPTN programs are borne by the Government, so the selected participants do nothave to bear any expenses. Candidates of SNMPTN with low-economy (poor) family backgrounds but with high academic performance and who are accepted in state universities are eligible to receive financial supports (scholarship) during their study via the so called Didikmisi program. The procedures to join the SNMPTN must be conducted in 3 (three) stages: (1) completion of the Database of Schools and Students (PDSS) by to be done the schools and the verification by the students, (2) the ranking, and (3) registration for SNMPTN by the students. It is worthy to note that when completing the PDSS, the School Principal or any person appointed for that purpose by the School Principal must complete the data of the school and the students into the PDSS via webpage http://pdss.snmptn.ac.id. The School Principal or the person assigned by the School Principal will obtain a password to be used by the students to make the required verification. The Students will then verify the historical records of their academic performance (academic report scores) filled in by the School Principal or person assigned by the School Principal, using the National Registered Student Number (NISN) and the password. If a student does verify the historical records of his or her academic performance (academic report scores) as completed by the School Principal or any person assigned by the School Principal, the available data completed must be considered to be authentic and may not be altered after the verification period has terminated.
