SLEMAN - Currently the world's electrical energy source is mostly derived from fossil fuels. The fossil energy source is getting smaller from availability factor; this fuel also become contributor of global warming from environmental side because of the produce carbon dioxide emission.

For that, renewable energy is the right solution to inhibit the rate of climate change. In addition, there are still lot of the potential of this energy source that can be developed. One of them is renewable energy of  wind and solar that has been developed in Pantai Baru, Pandansimo, Bantul.

Hybrid Power Plants (PLTH) developed in 2010 is the result of cooperation from various parties. In addition to electricity, PLTH Pandansimo is also a tourist destination in Bantul. This was revealed in a discussion at a National Seminar titled Potential of Geowisata Energy Education in Audiovisual Room, Mineral Geotechnology Museum, Campus II UPN, Babarsari, Depok, Sleman, Friday (6/10/2017).

Assistant Secretary of Regional Government of Bantul Regional Secretary, Bambang Guritno on that occasion acknowledged the amount of energy potential in the region. He hoped UPNVY would contribute to the development of energy geowisata in Bantul.

"At Pantai Baru, we are equipped with energy sources of  wind power, solar power, and biogas," said Bambang.

UPN Rector Prof. Sari Bahagiarti K, MSc said that her party was ready to provide support to stakeholders related to the development of energy geotourism. It has other novice of earth for geotourism and geoheritage. She  hoped that the concept of energy geotourim could also be developed by other museums in Yogyakarta with its potential.

"Because the aim of our activities is dedicated to the community," said Rector.

Meanwhile, in the same place, the Head of Research Center for Geotechnology UPNVY, KRT Dr.Nur Suharcasyo said the potential of renewable energy could be one of the benefits of DIY. Therefore, the synergy between academia, government and society is needed in the utilization of natural resources for geotourism energy education.

Therefore, it has the thought of the need for energy parks in the southern region of Yogyakarta considering that the potential of geotourism energy in DIY was more commonly in the south of DIY mainly adjacent to the beach.

"Because there is a lot of energy potential in the south area of DIY, there is wind or energy, then from solar solar. Many farms can also become biogas. And the waves, we see the waves roll has high pressure and it's a source of energy," he said in the seminar. (wwj / humas)
