SLEMAN - A total of 99 lecturers UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) successfully entered in portal Science and Technology Index (SINTA). This was revealed in the speech of UPNVY Rector, Prof.Dr.Ir.Sari Bahagiarti K, M.Sc at SINTA socialization event at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY), Wednesday (18/10/2017).

"With the number of 99 lecturers who enter the portal SINTA Ristekdikti, at this time UPN" Veterans "Yogyakarta is in position 121 of 4222 universities in Indonesia," said Rector in front of the participants.

The Professor of the Faculty of Mineral Technology expects all UPNVY lecturers to enter SINTA's portal, so UPNVY's position can increased. According to him, the portal initiated by Kemristekdikti is very useful for academics, especially lecturers.

Present on the same occasion, Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum, Information Science Researcher  at the LIPI Scientific Documentation and Information Center, presented the development of the portal of the scientific publication.

Lukman said, SINTA developed into a solution to the issue of publication. The number of students and the number of lecturers has currently not been comparable with the number of publications produced in Indonesia. The lack of recognition of the research at the global level is partly due to the low global publication of the researchers.

SINTA is a portal that contains performance measurements of Science and Technology covering among others performance of researcher/ writer/ author, performance of journal, performance of science and technology institution. This portal was developed Kemeristekdikti to encourage publication culture among academics.

Unlike other existing systems in Indonesia, SINTA has relation, citation, and indexing functions. SINTA also uses a digital entry-exit system and manages multi-sectors which have the task and synergistic function of Kemenristekdikti and Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI).

In SINTA. there are relation of citation and indexing function, while others only have relation orcitation . Sinta also uses digital exit entry system and manages multi sectors which have duty of synergy function those are Kemenristekdikti and LIPI.

This system will also be a part to encourage the promotion of functional positions of lecturers as well as researchers.

Furthermore, Lukman said that the target of publication in 2017 is 15.000-17.000 publication. This system is expected to motivate academics and researchers to be more eager to produce publications. (BMW-fti)
