SLEMAN - To improve academic quality of faculty and university, Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Tuesday (14/11) held an academic quality assurance workshop at Grand Quality Hotel Yogyakarta. The workshop was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Team within the Faculty of Industrial Engineering UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY). Presented as resource person, it was Ir. Johanes Pramana Gentur Sutapa, M.Sc. from Quality Assurance Office UGM Yogyakarta.

Dean of Industrial Engineering Faculty (FTI), Ir. Tjukup Marnoto, M.T., Ph.D. in his speech conveyed the purpose of holding academic quality assurance workshop was to improve academic quality in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering in particular and UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta in general. In addition, it also improved the knowledge of the Quality Assurance Team about the implementation of quality assurance in universities.

According to Dr. Ir. Johanes Pramana Gentur Sutapa, M.Sc., the implementation of academic quality assurance in universities was implemented based on Law Number 12 of 2012. All universities are required to implement quality assurance.

The quality of higher education is the level of conformity between the implementation of higher education with national higher education standards set by the college.

"The system of quality assurance of higher education is a systemic activity to improve the quality of higher education in a planned and sustainable system," explained the lecturer who is familiarly called Gentur.

"It is said that quality is in accordance with the standards, in accordance with the expectations of the customers, in accordance with the expectations of the relevant parties, as promised, and all the characteristics of products and services that meet the requirements and expectations", he explained.

A quality institution, Gentur says, is focused on customer needs while the usual institutions that are still focused on internal needs. (BMW-fti)
